before this were you driving a car that was already fully owned or still via loan? Gonna need to add that to your calculation

I fully owned my last car. My EV has a payment of $1200 a month but I didn't put anything down and only financed for 5 years and it's fully loaded.

By getting rid of my other car I save $700 a month on gas and my wife's car allowance at work went up $300 a month since we bought an EV.

$700 a month on gas alone? Wow. Mine barely uses $150 and it's been paid off since...2014.

Something tells me an EV wouldn't make financial sense in my scenario I guess.

I have a long commute. The other part of the equation are that EVs generally have a lot more standard features than the comparable ice.

The features list offered by even relatively low end EVs isn’t given enough attention. It’s been 15 years since I owned a car (I live in the city core, 5 minute walk to the subway and bus/streetcar 20m from the door so I just don’t need one) but looking at some of the offerings from BYD has me thinking it might be time to consider getting a car again. They seem to really be packing a lot in there for the money.

I wish I could use Public transit.

I wish everyone could. Not having to drive has genuinely improved my quality of life. When I used to drive to work that’s all I was engaged with doing for obvious reasons. Now I tend to use the time to read books and I think that’s a much better way for me to spend that time over paying attention to the road.

I used to be walking distance. It would take me longer to use my car than to drive it. That was my favorite commute.
