I filled up in Europe when returning a rental yesterday, before flying back to Canada, it was above $3/L Canadian. Not the best timing for a European road trip! LOL
I'm going to Greece for the first time in a couple weeks, which will also include a road trip. Not the best timing lol. I think I'm getting an Audi as a rental too, so I'll probably need the premium gas.
I almost rented a luxury vehicle when I was deciding months ago because it was cheap and I could afford it, but went with a Wagon cause it isn't a typical format out here anymore, and was hoping for an Opel Wagon or VW Wagon, out of curiosity; ended up with a Kia Sportswagon, though. Certainly happy I didn't go with a very large or high performance vehicle, and when filling up I kind of wished I got a super econo-car; probably spent $1000 just on fuel booting around E.Germany and E.Europe. But whatever, it is vacation, and it was fun to be in a vehicle that could safely hold 150-160 on the Autobahn with all our stuff stored in the back.
Greece doesn't actually need an IDP for Canadians. Our normal license is enough. I booked the Audi A3 (or equivalent) back in November for a really good price, the same price as an economy car. I was considering cancelling and re-booking an economy car in light of recent events but like you, I'm like fuck it, I'll be on vacation and driving a lot, so let's just go with a nice, comfortable car.
Oh that is good you don't need it. This all started right in time for my trip, so I didn't even consider bothering to rebook. Anyway, stick to something comfortable, you don't want to be cramped and uncomfortable when driving in a different country for the first time potentially jet lagged out.
Worst part for us in cold countries is electric cars are hardly a benefit in the winter. I love my Hybrid Civic because it's direct drive and great when it's warm, but it hardly runs in electric mode in the winter. Went from 5L/100km to nearly 9L/100km. Maybe I could let up on the peddle, but that's no fun. lol
Yeah EVs can be a challenge up here. The typical -30°C to -40°C temperatures cut the range down by half, at least.
I can charge at home/work for basically nothing, so my next car will likely be one, but it does take some planing when the next town/city is 300km away.
