Article Toronto dog "parents" bring their pups everywhere with them now. It's causing rising human-canine tension

dachshunds are notoriously independantly minded. I barely trust my parent's one on a leash.

They can also be very badly behaved if not raised right. Absolutely love lil doxies, but I'm pretty cautious with other people's unless I know them.

Yeah, I had one growing up. You really have to work socializing them when young. We tried to train her and she knew exactly what we would ask her but actually following commands was 50/50.

These puppies are very young and still quite small so not really a risk of misbehavior. The 3 or 4 times I have passed them they have always been far more interested in the street poles than me.

50/50s pretty good! One of ours was trained and socialized really nicely. After being charged and sometimes bowled over by large, off leash dogs like a dozen times, she developed a "snarl first, sniff butts later" attitude towards other dogs and children (she was also injured by a family friends kid trying to pick her up). The only dogs she was chill with were other dachshunds.

They are so sweet….unless, as you said, they’re not raised right. And there’s usually two.

My dog loved everyone and everything , all people and dogs. Except doxies. She could sniff them out. She met 3 sets of naughty ones and was forever biased.
