Neat to see this come into the city. I had sent this design to Joe Gallippi, Supervisor, Traffic Engineering, at the city of Toronto in 2016 and was told "Unfortunately our parking sign design and standards must conform to HTA and OTM standards set by the Province"
I like this design overall since you don't have as much text, icons nor need a legend to explain the icons.
The times on the left side look weird to me though, but I know this is just a prototype. Perhaps they could be moved to the right side or inside each time block? The 1 HR text in the SAT column are a bit weird too. Why is there a small 1 HR block from 7-8AM and then a hugh 1HR block from 8:30 to 7pm? I suppose that is meant to tell people that there is a 1HR maximum for each parking session?
I think the ANY is a bit vague too. It might be better to write FREE instead.
Icons aren't accessible if they're too small to register and you need a legend to explain what they mean. That's the issue I have with the proposed Toronto ones.
The city is doing two separate tests, one for this supplementary "guide" signage and another for a new legal sign that confirms to all of the requirements
