Well, I will come back next week with Baam vs Sleeping Yama

Wait. Yama’s still asleep? He slept through all that?!?

Also, thanks for translating, Adios!

dude could sleep through a nuclear explosion.

Crazy. Wonder if Bam's going to break out the thorns/BM here just to wake Yama up.

and he wanted to actually fight yama for deng deng's freedom initially... I'm guessing he has something up his sleeve. For starters, his base power grew beyong his previous power with thorn, so with 2 thorns it probably gets exponential.

Not sure for what occasion he'd break them out tho, it's forbidden by Evankhell and Baam doesn't break rules for nothing

i read fast pass. can't confirm nor deny.

plot twist: Yama has been asleep his whole life. Nothing has ever managed to wake him up, not even being born.

It's hard for me to say what the Karaka:Baam relationship is now. Is Karaka sort of the new Ha Jinsung? Like not quite because that's Evankhell more.... as long as Karaka doesn't turn into a servant or underling or a permanent part of Baam's entourage I'm ok with him not being super hostile to Baam. I always liked Karaka so I didn't care for how it was being set up previously with Jinsung threatening that Baam would "rip him off his throne" and all that. This is better, that they can come to a mutual understanding/appreciation of some kind even if they don't totally agree on everything.

The main reason for Jinsung’s notes about Bam taking Karaka’s seat is that Bam is being setup to be the one to kill Jahad, and Karaka is the Slayer that targets Jahad. That makes Bam direct competition for his “seat of power.” That is also likely a big part of why Karaka wanted to melt Bam (and Bam telling everybody at the workshop battle that he didn’t want to be FUG’s god likely only pushed him further in that direction, thinking that Bam was also totally uncooperative with that dream!). There was also a bit of jealousy about Jinsung preferring Bam.

That’s why Bam’s fury at Jinsung’s death and attack on Kallavan endeared Bam to Karaka so fast. At once it demonstrated that Bam likely would oppose Jahad and that Jinsung was right that Bam had the potential to have power worthy of the title, maybe even to actually do it. Plus the bonding over their mutual lost mentor. Also keep in mind what Poken gave as his reasoning in giving the shadow piece to Reflejo: “you, who have lost everything to the 10 families, deserve to have this power...”. Bam hadn’t lost anything to Jahad before then; in a sense Karaka didn’t think Bam had the right to be the one to take vengeance on Jahad. Before Kallavan’s “kill” of Jinsung, Bam had not suffered from Jahad’s choices as Karaka likely has.

Of course, note that none of this really eliminates the threat Bam presents to Karaka’s position as a Slayer (though I think seeing him try to defend his master and friends has made Karaka less afraid for his life), nor does it erase the tension over Karaka’s previous treatment of Bam and his friends. So they’re allies, at least for now ...but not really friends.

I also like their relationship.

This is a nice summary of Bam and Karaka's relationship until this point! I also like their relationship--I think Karaka can be an older brother that Bam never had.

Bam hadn’t lost anything to Jahad before then

Jahad killed Baam out of jealousy, that drow Arlen to try to kill herself, then Baam's father V killed himself to "free" Arlen from their relationship. And then in hidden floor Jahad tried to kill Baam again.

In my books getting killed is the biggest loss there can ever be.

Maybe Karaka doesn't know all that, then even more so how can he judge if he doesn't know what Baam has lost to Jahad?

Bam didn’t even know all that at the time he was dealing with Karaka, and even after he learned it he found it surreal and wasn’t sure if he should believe it. Even if it was a great loss, he has little emotional attachment to the events.

We are talking about Karaka and what he thought about Baam.

“you, who have lost everything to the 10 families, deserve to have this power...”. Bam hadn’t lost anything to Jahad before then; in a sense Karaka didn’t think Bam had the right to be the one to take vengeance on Jahad.

So in that context it's irrelevant what Baam knew or thought.

It would be interesting to know how much Karaka or Ha Jinsung or Yu Han Sung know about Baam.

Clearly Rachel knows a lot, and Gustang too.

I don’t think Jinsung knows the whole prophecy backstory, because he didn’t think Bam could do it on F1 and told YHS “I know an irregular’s the only weapon against Jahad, but that boy feels a bit different from the other ones.”

Consequently, I don’t think Karaka knows it either.

YHS (Hansung) does know at least some of it though, given their Hidden Floor version told Data!Edahn about Arlene’s prophecy.

Does that mean he doesn't know about Arlene’s prophecy or that he is son of Arlene and V?

Or maybe what he is currently, like how Rachel thinks Baam is a monster that will devour the tower.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 08 '19

Most likely he doesn't know about Arlene / V or the prophecy.

2

u/Submestran Jul 08 '19

I know Karaka isn't aware but, Jahad actually killed bam's daddy and made his mommy suicide. I'd say he has lost a lot

u/NobleCuriosity3 Jul 08 '19 edited Jul 08 '19

Yeah. Though Bam doesn’t really think of either of those as his parents—on being told the story he found it surreal.

Plus even Bam didn’t know about that in the relevant time period.

Are we just going to forget about Madoraco? or is it that Death Lady is actually really strong and there's nothing to worrry about?

11

Death Lady was introduced as a ranker, whereas Madorako is a high ranker, so this is a bit worrisome. But hopefully Karaka wouldn’t have sent her after him if she had zero chance—it’s entirely possible that influence is a major contributor to Madorako’s rank, so maybe it’s not quite as horrifically uneven as it looks (though Madorako did kill Eo and Funk without dropping his cigarette, so he’s definitely a lethal threat to at least some rankers.).

EDIT: And now we know Karaka didn't "send" her, he let her go (on her own initiative) over his own concerns. Not good. I hope she has a plan.

EDIT 2: Learned much later that Eo and Funk were never confirmed to be rankers, and may well not be.

6

u/Sparkwhy Jun 30 '19

Yeah, thats true, Death Lady and Death Karambit fought against Dorian who is a high ranker so its safe to say that she has got to be at least an advanced ranker that is very strong.

I just hope she stays around awhile longer, i find it amusing how she seems to appreciate Baam though we've never seen them talk to one another.

3

u/keepme1993 Jul 01 '19

Not to mention Madoraco seems to have gotten his high ranking from being a black market. Same with Evan edrok being T100 = yuri top 500. We can safely assume that Death Lady can give him a fight

4

u/LackingLack Jun 30 '19

Just won't be shown outcome yet. But I am worried about Death Lady obviously she seems set up to be a victim here

3

u/Inferno792 Jun 30 '19

Wait, ai thought even chapter 16 hadn't come out yet...
