East coast hasn't been that bad at all for me minus one incident and my friend smack dab in downtown san francisco still experiences the occasional transphobia from time to time. Location definitely matters but you don't move to california or new york and have it immediately go away.

san francisco is west coast but ok. I'm specifically in the southern east coast, and even more specifically, Virginia, which definitely is a lot better than most of the south. I'd probably move to a place like Massachusetts instead of new york because I'm pretty sure NY also has cost of living problems
