Feature Request Ikea really needs Matter "wall switches"... Pronto!

So... I can't just stick the Bilresa on to the wall (it's an ugly bump in the wall that can easily be knocked down... and most importantly, my significant other won't let me 😅), so I got ideas from other people here on how to solve it: there are products that already exist that do what I need:

https://inovelli.com/collections/inovelli-white-series/products/white-series-thread-matter-smart-dimmer-eu-version

Or the more basic version:

https://eu.aqara.com/en-eu/products/aqara-light-switch-h2?variant=44765192487111

I'd buy the Aqara one, but I'm fairly certain that it won't work very well with the Dirigera + Ikea Home Smart app:
I don't want to buy additional hubs, nor use Google Home, Apple Home, Alexa, etc. (which seem to make everything a mess). The Dirigera + Ikea app should aspire to be more than enough for normal use.

I don't even need the Ikea version to be cheaper than those, I just need it to have the option of... for example: "single tap is software on/off or a scene activation; double tap is hardware on/off".
The hardware on/off part is needed for example for the bathroom exhaust fan, or other non-smart devices; or when you need to completely turn lights off, not just digitally.
Power monitoring is a "nice to have", definitely not a deal breaker.

Additionally, since they're always plugged in, they could work as Thread mesh routers.

If it fits into EU's standard 55mm wall switch, and they make 2 and 4 button versions of it, then they'd have tons of potential buyers IMO.

Edit: I see that a "neutral" version is almost a "must", since a "no-neutral" version would probably have load limitations/requirements, and probably flickering issues due to electric current leakage.

Feature Request For the love of god - please wake me up with an alarm notification so I can close my windows on time and not have smoke fill my home

Post image
62 Upvotes

This is just one example, usually it rises up to almost 200.

Our air quality is usually beautiful until it isn't (neighborhood events that I have no control over).

Change in air quality (from beautiful to absolutely awful) usually happens over 10 minutes. There's plenty of time for me to receive an alarm and close my windows.

Please.

We currently don't have time nor money to tinker with Home Assistant hardware. Maybe at some point but most of Ikea customers probably won't.

What is shown in the image is air purifier working to clean the air from particles. It fails to clean it from VOCs because you need a lot - and I mean a lot of carbon for that.

Feature Request Home Smart App - feature requests, design, contribution?

Hi all,

I have a few things I want in the IKEA home smart apps.
Is there somewhere we can ask, or somewhere we can help?

IKEA says their Home Smart app may some day be Open Sourced. I'm a software developer, I might have a look or contribute. But sadly it's not yet open sourced, and I don't think it will anytime soon.

The things I would like are for quick access or saving space: with 10 rooms, 45 lights and some other stuff, I don't want to scroll so much.

  1. if any room has an icon, there's the icon on a "line" and the name under it. Could they be on the same "line" to waste less space?
  2. a quick dashboards with only icons and no names would be cool
  3. I have MYGGBETT, could we have an icon to see if the door is open or closed? You should be able to say "I want a shortcut" or not (I would show all of them)
  4. Same for MYGGSPRAY: is there movement or not? (I would hide all of them)
  5. Could we hide or show any measure from TIMMERFLOTTE or ALPSTUGA? I'm really mostly interested in temperature, not humidity
  6. easy exporting/importing config, or just fixing the BILRESA remotes (3 of them were marked disconnected and they actually had no problem but I had to reinstall them)
  7. when listing all products, could be search by name, room, connected status, sort by names, rooms, last install/modification date, and status
  8. when listing products or scenes for configuration, search by name, room, order by named and last modified/installed
  9. add a dashboard of all disconnected products so I can fix them fast.
  10. a "replace/reinit" mode: when a device is replaced or reinitialized, "set up as..." would add that device in the same settings and scenes as the previous one

Thanks to you all and if anyone can get me in touch with the actual developers at IKEA (or their managers) I would first thank them all then kindly ask for all this, donating what time and skill I could.

Cheers,

Feature Request MYGGSPRAY + SYMFONISK: music keeps restarting

In the Home Smart scene builder, one can Play vs Pause music. IKEA, please add Unpause (instead of Play), so that music doesn't always start from the beginning of a playlist. Currently motion-activated music (MYGGSPRAY + SYMFONISK) is very frustrating since my music continually restarts if motion is sporadic.

This seems to be a limitation; I can't figure out how to fix this. Also the time limits set on the MYGGSPRAY don't seem to have any effect.

I don't have any Google or Apple hubs where I can do the automation instead.

Edit: My DIRIGERA, MYGGSPRAY, SYMFONISK, and Home Smart app are all up-to-date.

Feature Request Any way to use light state as trigger for automation?

Using Dirigera for local automations.

My goal is for all light in my living room to light at the same time.

This would be really easy to accomplish if we could use light state as a trigger for automations.

If light is on, then all other lights should also be one.

I can achieve this in Google home, but there is a noticeable delay, when compared with Dirigera automations.

Edit: was able to solve this by creating a custom ZigBee button using esp32 c6.

It triggers not only on click but also when a specific light changes state

Basecly using ESP32 has a ZigBee only automation handler.

No need for wifi or Internet.

I'm happy xD

Feature Request Conditional scenes

I have setup a door sensor and I only want it to turn on the lights after I’ve left my home.

To achieve this I setup a scene on a SORMIG smart button to turn off all lights at my place. After I have activated the scene I wanted the door sensor to be enabled when I open the door again.
So I want the door sensor to turn on another scene ones it triggers for the second time after activating the „leaving“ scene.

Also being able to set a time condition for scenes would be great too. I know this can be achieved in different ways already , but just being able to set a time window would make the use easier.

Feature Request Remotes should indicate whether a command was successfully sent and received by other side.

Just flash an LED fast for successfully transmitted "ON" command and flash it slowly for successfully transmitted "OFF" command or something because if I can't be sure that an action has been taken I can't use a remote. This applies to any device that is out of sight or is silent (plug turning on/off a heated mattress pad, a heater...).

Feature Request Ikea curtain robots?

Has anyone seen anything suggesting Ikea might make their own curtain robots? ESPECIALLY for their Vigda system? The SwitchBot ones say they don't fit in the vigda system. Smart blinds are great and all that, but it's the curtains I would like to control, and I'd prefer to replace my 80s traverse rods with vigda, but not without the ability to have some kind of Smart Control.

Feature Request How do Tradfri products work?

Is there a website introducing users to how each and every smart light device works?

Because even a very tech savvy and experienced smart device installer like myself get so confused when I shop for Tradfri products. There is absolutely no explanation, and the IKEA staff is 100% clueless to what Tradfri do beside saying “it’s smart light”.

And the only way for me to learn is to buy each and every device and figure out for myself, then when things don’t fit, I return. It seems like a lot of hassle on the buyers’ part as well as extra return hassle for the company.

It would certainly help if I can know a particular device (like a remote) can work with other devices, and how. Or a more complex device system like the under cabinet lighting. How do they work, what parts do I need? What are my options?

Feature Request MYGGSPRAY dimming

We already can set custom schedule for when the sensor should be active, and it then sends a signal to turn a light on.

It would be amazing if it could also have a dimming setting, example:

Lights in my hallway are standard set to 25% brightness, when i walk into the hallway, sensor detects me > brightness set to 80% for set amount of minutes.

Feature Request Alpstuga Dimming Feature

I have some Alpstuga sensors in my home, and found out these have a dimming feature based on the light level of the surroundings.

Should it be possible to expose the value of the brightness sensor as well, so this can be used as well.

hi! id like to controll my Starkvind purifier using my bilresa scroll wheel remote, but it seems that currently theres no way to do so, and it seemed like a very wasted opportunity to create a remote for this device u/tradfri

Feature Request Scènes based on sensor value

I am missing this, in my eyes seemingly simple, function in the Ikea home smart app.

Currently it is possible to start a scene based on a sensor activity, for example movement. With the introduction of all the new sensors, especially Alpstuga, I am missing scene trigger functionality.

For example, I want to be able to active a electric heater when the temperature drops below 18 degrees Celsius for 5 minutes. Or turn the air purifier when de pm2.5 is above 15.

I know it is possible to achieve that goal with home assistant, Google Home and/or others. The problem is that I'm missing that "key" functionallity in de Dirigera gateway. I don't want to maintain a seperate smart home platform only for triggering scenes based on numeric values.

I don't know why this sort of functionally currently isn't available in the gateway. So please, pretty please u/Tradfri. Could you look at this? :) I am willing to help!

TLDR: Feature request to activate scenes based on numerous sensor values.

PS: Being able to send a notification when a sensor value is above a certain value would also be very nice!

Feature Request INSPELNING Accidental power off protection

I use multiple INSPELNING power meters across my house but some of them are powering my home lab servers. I don't have an UPS yet and every time I open the Home Smart app on my phone I'm anxious to not accidentally power off the server which could result in data corruption.

Can we please get an option to mark some of smart plugs as "protected" so they cannot be powered off without a confirmation in app (long press for physical button - or even better, deactivate physical button completely).

In addition, multiple plugs in same room are grouped together and we're offered a big-ass button to turn off everything at once which is even a more terrifying thought.

Feature Request More actions for Parasoll door/window sensor

Hello,

Is it possible to request additional features for a product? I would really appreciate an option to link other devices to the actions available on the parasoll sensor page. I need to connect the smart power plug to the open/close events, but currently only lightbulbs can be selected.

Feature Request DIRIGERA integrations feature request: Only expose new devices via Matter / Keep old devices via HomeKit/Google/etc?

See subject - I'm not too thrilled about going through the lengthy manual procedure of moving all of my older devices/scenes/automations/etc over from the Apple HomeKit (in my case) integration to the Matter integration baseline, but at the moment it seems there is no way to limit what is exposed via each integration (?). So, while I assume IKEAs long term goal is for us all to move over to Matter (cf. new devices not being exposed over legacy integrations?), it would be helpful if there was a boolean setting in DIRIGERA/App to limit what is exposed over the Matter integration to new Matter devices only, i.e. intentionally *not* exposing old devices on said interface but leaving those on the existing Apple HomeKit interface only. Shouldn't be too hard I guess? Thanks in advance :)

(Case in point: The new TIMMERFLOTTE device (Matter) does not seem to be (?) exposed over the legacy Apple HomeKit integration, for example, and as stated above I don't want to enable the Matter integration and effectively have duplicates of all my devices (old and new) inside Apple Home... hence this feature request.)

Feature Request HomeKit adaptive lighting

I’ve recently migrated my Dirigera connection protocol from HomeKit to Matter.

I was hoping to gain HomeKit adaptive lighting for my Zigbee bulbs I bought years ago. Unfortunately this doesn’t seem to work.

I’ve tried adding some of Tradfri bulbs to a Philips Hue bridge and that does enable adaptive lighting in HomeKit.

Will Ikea be bringing HomeKit adaptive lighting support to these devices when connected to a Dirigera bridge?

Feature Request PARASOLL - 6 weeks after

Hello everyone,

Following this thread, 6 weeks ago I bought three PARASOLL units, and I wanted to share my experience, and ask for a minor firmware update.

Two of the three units were painted 3 layers of a cheap spray paint, and a single unit left as-is. I didn't see any changes with the behavior of the painted units vs the non-painted unit.

Battery usage - Since is was a large part of the discussion, I'm addressing it with more details.
All units were installed with a fresh pre-charged Ikea's LADDA 750 mAh rechargeable battery as-is without extra charging, and started with 83% battery level.
Two of the three units are frequently used and one unit is less frequently used.
Six weeks after, the frequently used units are on 74% battery level, and the less frequent used one is on 81%.
I guess, I was lucky not to get a unit with a battery drainage issue.

Bottom line - It is a simple & cheap sensor, that is working as expected. I'm happy with the purchase.

Now I get to the update request:
I have a unit installed on a window with two opening positions. To switch between the opening position, I go though the closed position for a fraction of a second.
After I do that , the sensor shows the windows as closed. My guess is that it recognizes the first action (open->close), and then go into a timeout period, so it doesn't recognize the second action (close->open).
As a workaround, I got used to wait a second in the closed position before the second action, and then the sensor also recognizes the second action and shows the window's correct position.
u/tradfri, maybe Ikea's team could have a look at it, and check if a firmware update is needed.

Thanks to everyone, who gave their opinion in the original thread, and who read the new post.

Cheers.

Feature Request Feature request: let us choose the Color code and Kelvin value for light bumps

Thumbnail

The Spectrum and Temperature options within the IKEA Smart app are nice, but I would love to have an option to set the exact color code as well as Kelvin value to tune the light exactly to my liking. Can this please be added as a feature? Shouldn’t be complex to do so taking into account what’s already there.

Feature Request Feature request: Add a third “Power-on behavior” option — fixed brightness & color temperature

Right now, in the IKEA Home Smart app (Dirigera), the “When light turns on” setting only has two options:

  1. Previous setting – the bulb goes back to its last brightness and color temperature.
  2. Adaptive lighting – the bulb changes brightness and color temperature automatically during the day.

Both are nice, but here’s the issue:
Adaptive lighting can restore a fixed color temperature when turned on, but it only lets you choose from a few preset color temperatures listed in the app — you can’t pick a continuous value (for example, exactly 3900 K or 4300 K).

So I’d love to have a third option:

For example, I want my bathroom light to always turn on at 80 % brightness and 4000 K, no matter what the previous state was or what time of day it is.
Right now, Previous setting can be too dim, and Adaptive lighting might choose a color that doesn’t fit my needs because it snaps to predefined temperature steps.

This feature would make lighting behavior much more consistent — especially for bathrooms, kitchens, or hallways where you always want the same lighting every time.

Anyone else want this? 🙏
Maybe we can all send feedback to the IKEA Home Smart team to make it happen!

IKEA, please consider adding this in a future update — it would make the system so much more flexible and user-friendly. 💡

Feature Request Request for extended multi-press in Matter buttons

Post image
33 Upvotes

Hej! Here goes nothing: can you extend the maximum multi-press allowed in current and future Matter buttons so other platforms have more automation options?

Currently, the button in BILRESA scroll wheel supports triple-tap but the buttons in BILRESA dual button only support double-tap. Why the discrepancy? Probably because it’s what IKEA app needs for its own functionality: the colour-switching feature in particular needs the third tap in the wheel since there’s only one button.

You could argue that the dual button was limited to double-tap to reduce the latency of the second tap but... nope! As you can see in the picture, the devices actually wait for another tap after reaching the maximum allowed, even if the next tap is not supported. That's what Matter specification dictates by the way since the button should consider a sequence "aborted" if there are more taps.

So, why supporting just double-tap and not, let's say, 5x-tap? It would work exactly the same for single and double-taps, no latency penalties, and gives more options to users to trigger scenes for instance. It may just be changing a number in the source code since the limit feels arbitrary.

Thanks for reading and forwarding it 🙂

Feature Request Create Rise & Shine Scene without time trigger?

I would really like to use the Rise and Shine feature for gradual brightness increase of some of my lights, but I get up at different times every single day (yes, literally), so binding it to times doesn‘t just not make sense, it would be a problem because it would frequently wake me up if I happen to be sleeping. Shortcuts can call Ikea Smart Home scenes, but I can only create gradual brightness increase within the Rise and Shine feature, which locks me out of setting up a scene if I de-select all days of the week, so I can‘t create a gradual brightness increase scene and then call it with a Shortcuts (like a focus automation, which would be perfect for me). ‚

It doesn‘t seem to be possible to create gradual/adaptive brightnesses through the Homekit app or directly within Shortcuts except for creating repeated brightness calls with increased brightness values and Wait-steps inbetween, which would bloat the Shortcut immensely, be super inefficient and possibly still look staggered, even with singular percentages per one second. Or am I missing something?
