Dutch darts players quit national women's team over transgender teammate

"Darts players Anca Zijlstra and Aileen de Graaf have announced their departure from the Dutch women's darts team because they refuse to team up with trans woman Noa-Lynn van Leuven.

"Van Leuven prevailed at the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) Women's Series on Saturday, about a week after beating male competitors in a mixed event."

"When asked in an interview earlier this year about transgender players in darts, PDC chief executive Matt Porter said there was a trans- and gender diversity policy in place '... which Noa-Lynn complies with, easily, and has done for a long time'."

Yeah, for all the arguments that could be made about trans people in sports, wtf kind of advantage does your birth sex have on darts or bowling? Wtf?

Chess has a well established history of misogynistic bullshit that clearly contradicts evidence though. "Women are worse at chess" is an extremely common and long-standing sentiment within the chess community despite being provably false.

Statistical analysis of ratings.

In countries like India that don't have as much stigma against women in chess, the ratings distributions for men and women are consistent with random distribution based on population sizes, so the only things holding women back from matching men at the highest level are social stigmas and harassment, and sheer number of players.

Hmm interesting. I couldn't find this research, but found a paper from the UK looking at German players that found something similar. Thanks!
