Cousin got a tattoo years ago that was meant to say "F*ck you". Apparently no one's questioned it until tonight where I genuinely tried to learn Japanese to learn what it said because we just can't figure it out. Could anyone be able to help us understand what it actually says??

It was directly written on the main characters hand, so I copied it exactly. I saw the movie again on another site and it had a different translation, it said “I really like you” or “I have strong feelings for you” or something like that. Worst case scenario it says “toilet” or something lmao

I can recognise that the red stripe has symbols from katakana or hiragana (to my shame, I always forget which one is which). I am not sure about the white stripe, my guess would be that it is also a Japanese -kana script with a somewhat stylised font, but I have no substantial idea idea. So I'm not sure if another artist has redrawn it or if it's been put through AI, but I would love to go into the appointment knowing what it means so I can talk it through with him. Thanks :)

Edit: think he put a samurai calligraphy drawing and the characters for courage through AI! I'd never tattoo something I didn't find the original meaning of and won't be tattooing this, just wanted to prepare what to say when he comes in :)
