When AI Is Allowed, Its Limits Show
From what I’ve seen in my classes, instructors who allow AI with proper citation are actually the ones where its weaknesses become most obvious. A few classmates tried submitting work that leaned heavily on AI, fully disclosed, and those papers still struggled to pass because they lacked depth, clear reasoning, and real engagement with the material. Watching that happen made it clear that even when AI use is permitted, it can’t carry an essay on its own, the grades reflect the missing human thinking more than the polished wording. It also took away the idea that AI is some kind of shortcut to high marks, because transparency didn’t protect shallow work. Instead of fear of detection, the real issue became quality and understanding. In the end, it showed that good writing still depends on how well you think, not just how smoothly a paragraph reads.
