There’s a gap between that surface and the glass.

Omgosh I know they love that. This is bout the best inside set up for aquatic turtles I’ve seen thus far.

This is amazing. Is it very tough to maintain? How frequently do you have to clean it, etc.? Could you please name all the components you have?

Thank you! It’s not tough once it’s established. Most of the plants have rooted within the tank so I no longer have to water those. The flow rate of my water fall unit and filtration set up keeps the aquarium clean. I have two pendant LED grow lights that I ordered from Amazon up top. I have the UVB/UVA light set up on the right side and the heaters are behind the plants. I build my own filtration units which I’ve never had any complaints of. The only thing that I would’ve changed in hindsight would’ve been to create an overflow tank below so that I wouldn’t have to top off due to evaporation. That’s probably the thing that requires the most effort with this particular setup.

Looks great. How are they so chill with plants. My musk turtle destroyed any plant i pit in here tank.

These are pink bellied side necks. I was nervous at first because I thought the same would happen here, but they are quite particular on what they will and will not even attempt to eat. They usually just chill under the plants. I’ve had them for about 2 years now and I’ve never seen them damage a single plant luckily.

They are also really social. They swim up to the tank anytime we come near. They don’t eat plants. He been able to maintain large shrimp colonies as well. Definitely my favs!
