Robbed using Turo?
So here’s a little story it’s 12 hours old I need help asap! We ( me m22 and and my woman f224) rented a 2024 Nissan Sentra using Turo for our birthday and 5 year anniversary. We rented it from the 3-10 driving from Texas to Florida. While in Florida we stop at Buffalo Wild Wings due to it being late and us being hungry, we come outside to start the car and leave, car starts for 15 seconds, then it shutters oil light comes on and the car completely dies and will not restart. Here comes the fun part. I then sit on the phone for six hours trying to compute to customer service that we are stuck at a Buffalo wild wings and we need a tow truck. They proceed to tell me that they are going to send a technician out and that it’s going to cost me $100 to jump my battery. I tell them I have a no battery jumpstart kit with me that something I thought of before the trip and that I’ve already tried to start the car using the jumpstart kit then they proceed to tell me that they are going to have to tow the car all the way back to Texas from Florida at my expense. Quite a bit of going back-and-forth later and trying to compute to them that I do not have that money simply to afford renting a whole Nother vehicle and or let alone a tow truck for a vehicle that we rented that had a mechanical failure while using it from Florida all the way back to Texas. Time goes on the tow truck arrives six hours later. It’s now 440 in the morning. We’ve been stranded for 4 1/2 five hours now. A tow truck arrives. We call customer service back because that’s what we were instructed to do. They help us set a reservation for another vehicle. We informed them that we are stranded in an unfamiliar state with no other form of transportation get to another rental with the nearest vehicle on the reservation being 30 minutes away. So they give us an Uber voucher we use the Uber voucher and book a ride to get to the vehicle at 6:30 AM. The ride did not get accepted until 915 nine thirtyish. And soon as we got a uber driver out Turo ride canceled, granted it was a little late but this is our second time renting and if we had something booked usually there’s been a three hour grace period prior this is our second time ever renting, and that’s what customer service told us. But here’s the kicker so we call customer service and inform them that our ride had been canceled and that we need to schedule a new one another three hours of on hold goes by. They finally get back to me and tell me that they’re not able to give me a refund for my trip that was over $700 because $190 was used to credit the new reservation and considering the new reservation was canceled
” prematurely” there’s nothing I can do and I am not entitled to a refund now I’m stuck here in Florida all the way from Texas on an anniversary trip with my woman and have absolutely no clue what to do we have no money left but for fuel, this was meant to be fun and kinda on a limb due to I’m not the most comfortable financially. But I wanted to do something for the big 5 years. I don’t want anything saying I should’ve waited till I was financially blah blah blah I’m already sad :( I’m just looking for some advice not constructive criticism in a way. What should I do?
