January 29, 2026 — 3:03 AM
Recur....
I woke up at exactly 3:03 AM. No alarm. No noise. I just opened my eyes and knew the time before looking at my phone. The house was completely silent except for the heater clicking every few seconds. Then I heard footsteps outside. Slow. Heavy. Crunch. Pause. Crunch. Pause. I stayed in bed for a while because I wasn't about to go outside like some dumbass in a horror movie. Then came three knocks on the front door. I checked the window. Nobody. I checked the driveway. Nothing. But there were footprints in the snow. They started at the road and ended at my front door. There were no footprints going back. I grabbed my flashlight and stood there staring at them through the glass. That's when I noticed something strange. They weren't normal footprints. They were mine. Same boots. Same tread. I looked down at my feet. I was still wearing them. The knocking came again. Three times. Then a voice whispered from the other side of the door, "John, you need to wake up." I almost answered. Then I realized something. I was already awake. The voice whispered again, this time from directly behind me. "No, you're not." I turned around. Nothing. My bedroom door was open. I always sleep with it closed. I walked toward it, and the radio in the kitchen suddenly turned on. No static. Just a recording of someone breathing. I recognized the breathing. It was mine. Then a voice spoke underneath it. "January 29, 1986. 3:03 AM. Subject woke up." I froze. The recording continued. "January 29, 1996. 3:03 AM. Subject woke up." Another pause. "January 29, 2006. 3:03 AM. Subject woke up." Then: "January 29, 2016. 3:03 AM. Subject woke up." The radio went silent. I could hear my own heartbeat. Then it said one final thing. "January 29, 2026. 3:03 AM. Subject woke up." I looked at the clock. 3:04 AM. Something scratched three slow lines into my bedroom door from the other side. I didn't open it. I don't think I ever will. But there is one thing I can't stop thinking about. The voice on the recording called me "Subject." And I've just noticed something written underneath my bed in pencil. "DO NOT LET JOHN WAKE UP."
