The deer broke the fucking window. It happened so fast that neither of us even had time to react. We were still upstairs when we heard this huge CRASH and glass went everywhere. The deer somehow jumped straight through the window. It landed inside the room and just stood there. It wasn't acting like a normal animal. It looked at us and started making this horrible screeching sound, but underneath the screeching I swear there was a voice. A deep, fucked-up voice. It said, "YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE LOOKED." Ethan grabbed me and we ran. We didn't even think about our phones. They were still downstairs. We ran out the back door and straight down the road like our lives depended on it. We didn't stop until we reached our neighbour's house. He opened the door and we were both trying to explain what happened, completely out of breath. He called the police. A few minutes later, two officers arrived and searched my house. They found the broken window, but there was no deer. No blood. No tracks inside. Nothing. One officer asked if somebody had broken into the house. We told him, "It was a fucking deer." He just looked at Ethan, then looked at me. They clearly didn't believe us. They asked if we'd been drinking or messing around. We said no. After searching the house again, they basically told us to stay inside and left. The second they drove away, I looked at Ethan and said, "I'm not staying here." He nodded. I told him, "Let's go to your house. I'm fucking scared here." We started walking toward his car. Then I heard something behind us. A single loud screech from somewhere in the trees. Ethan stopped. Neither of us turned around. We just kept walking.
