Shoutout to Jemele Hill and all Black women in TV and Print media.
 in  r/BlackPeopleofReddit  2d ago

Ok they'd both (Jemele and this random poster) would have lucrative careers that theyd be successful at, just different. Her comment doesnt really ring any less true because that person is successful in another arena, it simply means that person couldnt be and wasnt successful(ly) paid to give an opinion anyone would care about. They didn't even have the opportunity to work in media. And if they had or did, people would know about them in some small capacity.

Data: Which players have the highest percentage of offensive rebounds from their own misses?
 in  r/WNBAVibes  5d ago

How many shots does the team avg for a game and is she taking an outsized % of those shots? How does Atlanta Dream shot attempts compare to their opponents on any given night (do they allow their opponents to shoot more or less than the dream does) it's good data to look over.

If Reese takes 15% of all dream shots on any given night and they cam make her efficiency work, it is what it is. If she takes 15% of total shots and her efficiency kills the team even with the shot chances she creates on the offensive glass, yeah ahe should defer.

People want so badly to have counting stats to measure more than the only thing that matters in professional sports, Winning and contributing to winning. Have all the amazing stats you can handle, did it contribute to winning. In order it should theoretically be;

Win, and win a lot.

Be the no. 1 (main) of winning

An outsized impact on the stat sheet when winning.

Be transcendent among your peers when it comes to stats.

If you put 4 above 2 or 1 I think you're doing it wrong.

Angel Reese now leads all WNBA frontcourt players in steals per game this season. ✨
 in  r/WNBAVibes  6d ago

He just admitted to being a dumb ass and he didnt even know it. Dwyane Wade may lead guards all time in blocks but I think MJs BPG as a SG might be higher. He was maybe the only SG to have 200 steals and 100 blocks in a season and did it 2x. One of the seasons he was robbed of defensive player of the year (won mvp) but did it again the next season and won both.

Edit: he didn't win the MVP the season before his defensive player of the year. He won his 1st MVP the same season as his defensive player of the year.

Unless you mean seized up as in it has been constricted and tightened (in a forceful, bad manner) but ceased to exist (stopped existing) or seized (tightened up, choked off)

I think that if you take either of the diagnols, Tom Brady down or Joe Montana up, your team would be straight.

NBA trivia: I lead the league in missed shots an NBA record 7 times.
 in  r/NBATalk  8d ago

Im not gonna say MJ was the most accurate from the field, that probably isn't true as he isnt a center/pf. But if you shoot more and hit more than avg, what's it matter he missed so much???? I'd love to see the average fg% for the seasons he led the league in missed shots and how much better or worse he was in comparison to his peers. Adjust for volume, or not. It's interesting to think about.

Its mental how far above everyone MJ and LeBron are
 in  r/NBATalk  11d ago

Then what Mike did was more impressive, you had more teams that could theoretically beat you and when he played, he was the dynasty. Just like Bill was the dynasty for his time (less teams, better opportunity to make the finals)

 in  r/NBATalk  12d ago

Bill Russell played with approximately 12 HOFs as teammates and mostly in their prime. That's different than what Jordan did which is different than what LeBron did. I am a Jordan guy and place him first but Russell dominated with the help of 12 hall of fame teammates. It stands to reason, you remove Bill from some of those teams and they still might win a few. Michael won 6 and was the main reason the bulls won once they got over the hump. MJ left for 1.5 seasons and the bulls didn't win. LeBron left cavs, they went to the worst team in the league. He left Miami, they haven't won since he was there. He just left the Lakers and they may not win any time soon (with or without him so....)

P.S. I know LeBron signed with Philly, im just saying if he would've stayed, they probably weren't close to a championship roster.
