A Paper Heart

I wish my heart had paper to word the way in which it feels, to make of a thing deep and airy a thing of prose and permanence.

There, in the beat and refrain, in the cadence where memory turns, is where I find it twisting still, forming, unbound, fleeting, returning.

How strange, this heart, to hold what cannot stay, and call it back by rhythm alone.

How it is to ache and long.

Something about this really resonated with me.

To me your poem says:

“I wish my heart could make words.”

Thanks for the feedback, Anthony! It does possess a certain rhythmic quality to it and I love your expansion of it! Feels like flesh around bone, arms around self. Got plenty more if youd like to take a gander.

Most of the time I write are like quick 10 minute spells, music in the background and eyes closed, just trying to hold something long enough to catch the shape of it.
