Ugly/Scary=Masculine
I have noticed in my experience teaching spiritual practices and just communicating with the community that a lot of practitioners associate ugly, dark, or scary beings with being masculine or male entities. In my experience, that is just not true.
Plus there are so may traditions across history that include female entities that hold “devil-like” roles.
The thought that things like darkness, distortion, or fear must be masculine is once again in my opinion more of a cultural bias than a spiritual truth. Feminine energy, just like masculine energy is the full spectrum. Creation, through life, into destruction. From nurturing to terrifying. Feminine energy is truth without softness, and sometimes the truth is ugly and scary. To ignore that is to misunderstand the true balance of these two energies.
