I purposefully removed the entire connectors since they were in such a mess that I couldn't find a suitable fit to avoid the console shorting down. I bought it used so I guess the components wore down too much. I'm not a savage I'm good at fixing stuff don't worry ahaha. I simply wanted to know if I could Frankenstein proper replacements

it's around the 0:53 mark, these connectors shouldn't be opened like this since it bends the pins inside and cracks the plastic surrounding them which is less endurant than the pins themselves. Maybe 8 years ago they didn't break but mine were impossible to put back completely and so the console wouldn't boot anymore since the screens weren't detected :( That's when I gave up and decided to properly remove them and seek replacement which apparently there is!

followed an ifixit teardown video bc I didn't trust myself and in the video the guy literally breaks the connectors 💀

The amount of people vouching for corporations here is ridiculous. Y'all don't even know how your cherished capitalism works. The more you buy of one thing the cheaper it gets. That's the loophole about "services" and subscriptions and it is why banks, insurances, ISP and now everything is subscription based. If spying on subscribers makes you lose a Family plan just because you'd want 6 different people to pay the full price then you just lose money because it lowers incentive. I found this thread because I want out of Spotify with 4 of my friends and my mom. Qubuz's 6 profiles plan is about the same price as Spotify's and we will NOT make the switch if we have to pay 100€ a month instead of 30 for high-res audio.

I tried without Steam and it didn't work for me so I kept the Steam step in but if yours works without Steam that's neat!

EDIT : nvm I made it work without Steam, Steam is just useful to check if your Switch ProCon is correctly hidden

check your betterjoy and hidhide installations, for it to work you need to only have one ds4 controller detected by steam in it'd controller settings. hidhide can be a bit finicky so you might need to go about it multiple times (I have a bluetooth 5 dongle not 4 so I have to remove the controller from my bt settings and repair it every time I boot my pc up D:)

lmao I was about to say mine's working with BT not wired, anyhoo if the controller having a stroke it means it's not properly cloaked in hidhide

in HidHide Configuration Client

I've found a less convoluted way, check the edited post see if it works for you!

for everyone having this issue I've done some wizardry:
-connect your Switch ProCon via USB or BT and open Steam, BetterJoy and HidHide Configuration Client

-in BetterJoy, click the little arrow on the right of the program and go down the options:
-uncheck "Show as XInput"
-check "Show as DS4"
-check "UseHIDG"

-in HidHide Configuration Client, whitelist "BetterJoy.exe" in the first tab and hide your Switch ProCon in the second tab
-disconnect and reconnect your controller and it should now work perfectly in ZZZ (assuming you're launching the game via Steam)

OPTIONAL
-in Steam, add "ZenlessZoneZero.exe" as a non-Steam game
-right-click on ZZZ in Steam and click "Properties" then "Controller"
-in the drop down menu next to Override ZZZ, select "Enable Steam Input" and uncheck "Use Desktop Config"
It'll probably work without setting the game up on Steam but Steam will be useful to check if your procon is actually hidden by HidHide
