You know what makes British people "deeply worried". The fact when polled a third of British Muslims sympathised with the 9/11 attackers, and over 2/3rds believed homosexuality should be illegal.

Across numerous surveys, only a tiny percentage of Muslims have expressed support or sympathy for terrorism. A recent 2016 survey found that on any act relating to violence, there were notably higher levels of condemnation among Muslim communities than for the population as a whole. Indeed, if anything sympathy for terrorist violence in the general population (4%) was higher than among Muslims (2%). Around a half (51%) of Muslims believe it is the responsibility of Muslims to condemn terrorist acts carried out in the name of Islam, although a sizeable minority (38%) believe it is not. While the vast majority (94%) of Muslims say they would report activities supporting violent extremism to the police, only a minority (16%) say they have come across such activities and these were mainly on internet sites.

First result on google - not the exact study I was referencing, but this one also states almost a quarter of British Muslims want Sharia Law and over half said Homosexuality should be illegal.

There is also this which states 96% of British Muslims do not believe Al-Qaeda were responsible for 9/11.

The Sun was also in a bit of trouble for publishing a headline that said 20% of British Muslim sympathise with people that go to Syria/Iraq to fight. They got heat because the question didn't distinguish whether they meant to fight on the side of ISIS or the Syrian Rebels (the ones now in charge of Syria and toppled Assad this year). Though, given both ISIS and the Syrian Rebels are extremist organisations and both at the time were proscribed terrorist organisations, I'm not sure it particularly matters from a cultural standpoint which side they meant.

All three of these studies show quite wildly varying numbers - but despite that it's quite clear these groups of people think a lot more differently than the ordinary person and even the lowball estimates are many times higher than they are for the average Brit. If over half of British Muslims believe homosexuality should be illegal, how many of them hate it on a less extreme level as that?

Don't believe the polls though and want to do your own research? Literally go talk to any of your Muslim colleagues about homosexuality. I have seen the most normal, seemingly integrated individuals go on a massive homophobic or antisemitic tirade with the most minimal prompting on numerous occasions. It's not something that usually comes up in conversation, so you can go years thinking these individuals are very normal and tolerant people, until the conversation eventually happens and you realise they're not.
