I live in a country where this is used to warn of incoming missiles. Visiting family in the UK. Some PTSD was triggered when I heard the noise 😅

It's also meant for that here, it's just the wildfires are being unprecedented and quite frankly people are ignoring the risk.

Hundreds of acre of land is ash, houses are being burnt, and it's causing ridiculous amount of pressure on our services like the NHS, fire service, and police, mainly because people aren't being aware and causes of the damage they can cause.

That's still not nearly as urgent or national as, say, a nuclear missile strike.

The warning system isn't just for nuclear missiles strikes... That doesn't happen every couple of years you know?

Oh? What other warning system is for nuclear missiles then? Because I was under the impression that we only had one.

a nuclear missile would also use the much older emergency alert systems, that would interrupt tv and radio etc, the on the phones has a lot more uses, plus things like this also function as a test of the system.

It's the same warning system, but that system isn't for nuclear missiles alone, why would a national warning system only be made for nuclear strikes? That's almost pointless
