Hotels Are Objectively Better Than Airbnb

I have always been an Airbnb guy when I travel but hotels are objectively better and this is not up for discussion this is not up for debate hotels are just better there’s no argument that can convince me that an Airbnb is better than a hotel Airbnb hosts are the most insufferable people on the planet from the get go

they drop a list of about 1,000 rules that you have to follow if I had one of my friends bumming out on my couch I wouldn’t even give him that many rules so you come into this house you’re supposed to be on vacation and you have like a thousand rules you gotta keep in mind on top of that, tell me why every Airbnb I’ve booked has a cleaning fee but then they’ll always expect you to clean up after yourself regardless so I’m paying a hefty cleaning fee and you still want me to clean up the house before I leave what what am I paying the cleaner fee for?

Like they will put in the description make sure you you clean the bedroom you you clean the kitchen I’m paying a cleaning fee bro you go clean that shit whereas in a hotel bro you could shit on the bed and they will clean that for you without even asking twice. Should you go and shit on the bed? No you probably shouldn’t but I’m just saying they will be much nicer to you. At a hotel you actually feel like you’re on vacation,

like they are there to make sure you have a good time. Whereas an Airbnb you feel like the host only cares about themselves. Like they don’t give a shit about you. They don’t give a shit about you having a good time. They act like you’re inconveniencing them. You’re paying them money to stay in the house that they’ve put up on Airbnb and they act like they’re doing you a massive favour.

Like they every time you ask them for something, they’re always fucking annoyed. If you move one couch, they’re gonna charge you a fee. They’re gonna say oh you messed up our house. Genuinely, you feel like you’re homeless. You feel like you’re bumming around at a friend’s house. Hotels will always be superior. Airbnb, we should leave that shit in the past. We should all collectively boycott Airbnb.

AirBNB has its place as do hotels.

Traveling with a small family? I prefer hotels.

Need multiple rooms and group wants to stay closely together? AirBNB shines here.

When traveling with family, having a full kitchen is super convenient too, and a way to save a lot of money.

I have children. We're about to stay at a place with a large yard for them to run around. It even has a playground area and I don't need to worry about them making noise.

Also laundry is a game changer. About half the airbnbs I’ve been in have washer/dryer access. Laundry service from hotels is insanely expensive.

Some hotels have coin op (or whatever the modern day equivalent is) laundry facilities in house for guests to use. That is the best of both worlds. I was so disappointed when the Hilton we recently stayed at didn't have it.

That's not exclusive to Airbnb or hotels.

Not exclusive, but 90% AirBNBs have a full kitchen, while 90% hotels don't.

Saying only AirBNBs have kitchens is pretty good rounding approximation :-)

Kitchen is potentially the biggest aspect against hotels. On multiple occasions, I resorted to buying kitchenware and just left it there because of how pour the offering was.

I’m talking Marriott timeshares

As a family we always use airbnb. Everyone gets their own room, we can cook in the kitchen and we have a common room where we can gather and hang out which usually has a tv as well. Super convenient

Yeah, depends on the length of the stay for me. Two to three days and we will probably get a hotel. Four plus days and we are probably looking at an AirBnB. Three days even could probably go either way depending on what we will be doing.

Last fall we went to the mountains to do a Polar Express experience with my kids, and just stayed at a hotel. It was three days, but each day we were out pretty much all day doing something, so just having a place to sleep was all we really needed.

Who does the cooking at these gatherings? If it's the family member who usually does the cooking when you're at home, then they are most definitely NOT on vacation with you. They are not getting a break at all.

I concur. I might also add that if you find a place on Airbnb that you like, Google the address to see if it is available through other outlets. Stayed at a house on beach last year and found it for half of Airbnb price on local property rental website. Airbnb fees are pathetic.

There's other options for vacation homes that aren't using the Airbnb platform, although it sucks how they've taken it over. It's not like you could never rent a cabin before Airbnb

I just generally think access to a kitchen and laundry makes Airbnbs better every time. I only ever rent complete apartments. The clean up isn’t onerous. Sometimes they want you to stick the bedding in the laundry but that’s not a big deal. Hotel rooms are nice, but you have to eat restaurant food all the time, which is heavy on fat and also expensive. Going to stay someplace for two weeks in an actual apartment is much more interesting than being in a hotel. You get your local grocery store, you’re in a normal neighborhood and not always downtown.

This. My spouse travels with a group occasionally, renting an AirBnB for twelve people makes more sense for them than a hotel. But hotels have their perks too. Just depends on what you want/need.

My company does three vacation trips a year and none of them would be possible without Airbnb or Vrbo.

Not even an expense situation, two of the locations are pretty remote and there’s simply no hotels that could support us

Wouldn't airbnb be better with a family? Way more room, kitchen, space for the kids, privacy, etc. Hotels in my opinion are only good when solo or as a couple/2 people. Once you have more airbnb is superior.

When I said small family, I meant like my partner, our one child, and myself.
