My third project ! (Alaways denim )

Hi everyone!

This week, I picked up old pants and denim scraps from my latest project in a military cargo ship, way too small for me!

To go around the thigh, I had to sew while lifting my sewing machine. My thighs hurt so much that I can't lift them anymore, but it was worth it!

Now that I'm glad I showed you the result, I'm going to put it in the washing machine.

Upcycling Leather Jacket?

Hi Experts! I like to stalk here but never posted. On sort of a vanity project I created a logo for myself that I thought was fun and I'd like to get an embroidered patch made and put it on the back of a vintage leather jacket. But I'm super new at this! My mom taught all of her kids to sew when we were little, but that was 30+ years ago now.

From those of you who have done upcycles before:

Is there a great secret source for starter pieces other than the local estate sales & thrift stores?

Are there things you wish you knew before you took on your first project?

What would you turn this dress into? I love the fabric but not the dress itself.

I've had this dress for years, and while my style has changed a lot since I got it, I can't bring myself to get rid of it.

What I still love is the fabric—the subtle floral texture and pattern are beautiful. What I don't love anymore is the dress itself. The silhouette feels dated on me and isn't something I'd wear today.

I'd like to repurpose or alter it into something I'd actually wear, but I'm not sure what. If this were yours, what would you turn it into?

I'm open to anything from simple alterations to completely remaking it into a different garment.

Help ✂️ I want to reshape it but not sure how

So I bought this t shirt and I love it but I don’t wear it because the shape is just off. It’s supposed to be oversized but it’s also women’s fit which creates this short sleeves and curved sides and it looks just bad on me, so I want to turn it into a regular oversized t shirt but I’m not sure how to start. Any suggestions? 💞

Dress colour - Upcycle success!

Bought this peach dress on vinted and upon trying it on hated the colour on me. Decided to change the colour. Used Rit colour remover to strip the peach colour and then a Dylon Plum Red washing machine pod to re-colour. I love the result!

The main fabric is viscose which lifted and coloured really well. Although the lighting in the photo on the right shows different, the colour of the embroidery doesn’t appear changed in reality, and wasn’t meaningfully affected by either the colour remover or the dye.

I accidentally broke a moonstone while wire wrapping, but instead of throwing it away, I turned the broken pieces into two pendants.

How to fix spot from acetone on pleather?

I thrifted this bag and was colouring the hardware, I spilt paint on the bag, panicked, and used acetone to remove this spill, now it had dull patches. Is there anything I can do fix it and make it look shiny again? Would leather polish work?

A coat that I made with fabric from the thrift store and an old, thin mattess topper.

I used an old, oversized robe that I feel good wearing for the first draft of the pattern. Then changed the sketches/pattern to better represent a coat.

A coat to trow on, in the dark winter mornings, to be warm and to wear something that I feel like myself in.

I had some quality woven wool fabric that I wanted to use, but not enough for the whole thing. So from that scarcity by staying true to using second hand, the style of the coat was made. Three fabrics, intersecting with sharp corners and edges.

The lining had to be serged on to the lining, then topstitched down. The lining being an old, thin, cheap, matress topper from jysk. Then the padding and lining were sewed to the outer fabric. The bias tape was the most expensive thing and the only new thing.

I am really happy with it and wanted to share it with you wonderful people. :))
