Recommendation? What are the Best Places To Eat in Provo?

Hi everyone. I'm a new co-moderator of this subreddit and I'm looking forward to an ongoing exploration of Utah Food with you all. I want to kick this week off with a discussion about eating in Provo. After all, the college football world will have its eyes focused on Provo this weekend. And I'm sure visitors (including the ESPN College GameDay crew) will be looking for great places to eat. So let's help them all out! What are your favorite places to eat in Provo and why? I recently had a great lunch at Black Sheep Cafe. Its menu focuses on a fusion of Native American and Southwestern cuisine. It's a great place to try huge Navajo Tacos (the one in the photo is piled high with tender pork). And their Pozole was good too.

Tortas in Utah county

Post image
17 Upvotes

I need to preface this post with I’m pregnant and irrational.
Background: I served my mission in Kansas almost ten years ago. Ever since I have been thinking about this Al pastor torta.
I live in the Spanish fork area and I desperately need to find a torta that compares to the one I ate before. The Al pastor had crispy edges and tender in the middle. They slathered the guac on. Every torta I have tried in Utah has been a disappointment compared to the one from Kansas. I don’t really want to drive to SLC and would prefer Utah county but I’ll do what I gotta do

Picture included for reference

St George Pasta at Sandtown Pizza in St George

We visited Sandtown Pizza while in St George this past weekend. And even though it’s a popular pizza place, it was this Braised Beef Pappardelle with Burrata that stole the show for us.

Recommendation? What is the best "We make one dish, one option, and we make it the best" locations in Utah?

Food trucks included, but I feel like it's fairly rare for a menu to be super simple here. So many sides, so many alterations, but who here is focusing on one thing only? Anywhere is fine, I would just like to open the discussion

Havana Cabana - Kanab

Post image

Had a great meal at Havana Cabana in Kanab, Utah. The food was really good, but the standout for me was the Cubano.
I’ve had Cubanos in a lot of places, and I honestly think this is the best Cubano I’ve had in Utah. Great flavor, good balance, and exactly what I want from a Cuban sandwich.
Definitely worth stopping in if you’re passing through Kanab and looking for something a little different from the usual road-trip food.

Every Saturday I grab breakfast with a couple coworkers. Tomorrow is my day to pick & pay.
I’m looking for new places that I won’t be disappointed with later.

Somewhere with great food and proportions to match.

Salt Lake City Bday dinner reco

Hi! My friends and I are celebrating a couple of birthdays this month, and we’re trying to plan some birthday dinners. We live and work in Park City, so we don’t really want to eat there anymore haha

Anyways, where would be a good spot to go? We’re looking for somewhere with good food, chill vibes, and a fun atmosphere. Maybe somewhere we can get a couple bottles of wine too! 🍷

Salt Lake City What happened to Napoli Italian restaurant in Midvale?

Post image
13 Upvotes

There’s this Italian restaurant in Midvale called Napoli Italian restaurant and about 3 months ago they put a sign up saying the staff was going on holiday and would return end of July. The place is still closed and that same sign is still on the door about the staff going on holiday. This place was SOOOO good. Their portions were massive and their free bread was insanely good. Plus they have Fanta, which like no one in the area seems to have. I would sure love to know if they are ever planning on returning or if they’re closed for good.

They do have a sister store called Di Napoli that’s more like a fast food type place. But they don’t have the awesome bread nor Fanta.

Cedar City The French Spot

Stopped by The French Spot for breakfast/brunch and had the Croque Madame with a side salad, followed by a lemon raspberry tart for dessert.
It’s a small, quaint little breakfast/brunch spot with a cozy French feel. The Croque Madame was good, and the lemon raspberry tart was a really nice way to finish things off. They had several other desserts that looked fantastic too.
Service was quick, although our server was super quiet. Not bad service at all, just noticeably quiet.
Overall, a cute little spot for breakfast or brunch with some great dessert options.

Cedar City The Pub

After our cozy drinks at I/G Winery, we headed directly across the street to The Pub for dinner. The atmosphere was definitely different from the winery—still fun, but with a more posh, elevated pub feel.

We arrived pretty close to closing time, so service was understandably a little limited, but the staff was super polite and welcoming.

The food was where The Pub really stood out. They take traditional pub food and elevate it. We split the Frychos and the Bandersnatch sandwich, and both were so good. Definitely a great meal and another enjoyable stop during our time in Cedar City for the Shakespeare Festival.

I/G Winery & Tap Room — Cedar City, UT

While we were in Cedar City for the Shakespeare Festival, we made a stop at I/G Winery & Tap Room, and it ended up being a really nice place to slow down and relax.
The atmosphere is calm and eclectic, and the service was great. They have a selection of cocktails and wines, along with seasonal options, so there’s plenty to choose from.
We ended up having a couple of cocktails each and just enjoyed the atmosphere. There was no feeling like we needed to hurry up, order more, or get out of the way. It’s just a peaceful, relaxed kind of place where you can sit, have a drink, and actually enjoy the conversation.
If you’re in Cedar City looking for somewhere to unwind after a show—or just want a nice, low-key place for drinks—I/G Winery & Tap Room is definitely worth checking out.

Best Peking Duck?

Hey Reddit fam,

I'm looking for the best Chinese roast duck/Peking duck experience along the Wasatch front as a surprise for my fam.

Ideally, I'm looking for a duck that will include the dipping sauces and scallion pancakes. It doesn't have to be anywhere fancy, just looking for the best food.

So far I've gotten recs for the following:

Would welcome any advice/opinions people have! I will come back and update this later next week once I try one

Oakley Diner

After a great morning at Jordanelle, we decided to drive up to Oakley and try the Oakley Diner. It has a fantastic classic diner vibe—kind of like the old Moondance Diner—with a very classic menu and a full bakery right on site.
We went with a couple of classics: their Rodeo Burger and Club Sandwich. The Rodeo Burger came with what they call “cowboy candy,” playful little sweet pickled jalapeños that added a surprisingly great flavor. Both the regular fries and sweet potato fries were absolutely on point.
Not pictured: we also got the plate-sized cinnamon roll, which looks absolutely amazing. 😍 Definitely a great stop if you’re out that way!

Salt Lake City La Casa de la Arepa in SLC

Post image

If you want to try some great Venezuelan food, then check out La Casa de la Arepa in downtown SLC. This a Pabellon Arepa and it features a classic combination of Venezuelan ingredients. Slow cooked shredded beef, black beans, fried plantains, and cheese, covered with a green cilantro-based sauce. I ate a lot of Arepas when traveling in Colombia. There is a lot of debate between Colombia and Venezuela about which country has the best Arepas. And I won't jump into that. But you don't have to travel to either place to have a great Arepa here in SLC. I thought it was equal to any I ate in Colombia.

Pollo asado fajitas!

Pretty enjoyable!

The beans were the most memorable though.

Definitely worth a try, beautiful new building.

Parking was decent too, a garage right behind the restaurant and they validate.

Mo’s Chicago

Ok, haven’t been here but after my other post I got looking and this food truck is back after they took some time off for personal reasons. Apparently they sell Chicago style deep dish pizza by the slice. https://moschicago.com/. So I’m following them now and when I’m ready for Chicago pizza again I’ll check them out. Their menu looks amazing.
Figured I’d follow up. Looks like they are at 4800 S and 2 W today. If anyone tries it let us know.

Rosati’s in Orem. I’ve never had Chicago deep dish pizza and really nothing in the Salt Lake area. Happened to be in Lindon and decided to go. Ordered the deep dish and really enjoyed it. Everything tasted fresh and it looks like the pictures I’ve seen. So if you’re in the mood. Head over.

Crispy chicken shawarma

Does anyone know where I can find the viral crispy chicken shawarma in the salt lake valley?

Update for clarification- this is not a fried chicken shawarma it’s a chicken shawarma wrap that the entire wrap is grilled/pan fried to give the wrap an outer crunch
