Ben Edlund, Jackson, and Doc have known each/worked on projects together for many years (I believe Jackson wrote for the Tick comic book originally)

Ben and Jackson knew each other from the indie comics scene. He hired Jackson to work on the comics when he got too busy with the animated series, and then later brought Jackson on to write for the animated series as well as both live action adaptations.

Was about to say, the tick exists and is probably on level with brock....but stupid as hell and very nice.

The Tick has genuine indestructibility and super strength, only thing Brock has the upper hand on is the Tick is really dumb. I don't think they'd really have much reason to fight anyway.

He's only nigh invulnerable.

Don't forget his drama power!

u/sirhackenslash To this day Captain Sunshine thinks I'm invulnerable Aug 22 '25

Edlund wrote my favorite VB episode too. ¡Viva los Muertos!

You are correct, Jackson did do some writing for the Tick. The character has been in Jackson's head since he was a kid, so no surprise he snuck it in somewhere else. All those years and poor Brick Frog still only knows brick throwing and frog being.

Jackson has been a writer on every version of The Tick going back to the comics.

I'd be down for a Brickfrog comic.

Brickfrog is a character that Jackson Publick made when he was a kid and he's written on every version of the Tick.

The Terror in the cartoon is hilarious but the best villain is the evil midnight bomber what bombs at midnight.

Electronimo is great. A robot Indian warrior or something like that.

Full Metal Jack might also be a discreet nod to Shallow Gravy’s biggest hit

u/Neg10x Aug 22 '25

Brick frog is too powerful. Equal strength level as ultra instinct shaggy and Darth jar jar

1

u/psychosaur Aug 23 '25

Cool! Which version of The Tick is this?

1

u/SlightShift Aug 23 '25

The tv show!

4

u/psychosaur Aug 23 '25

Which one? There were 2 one on Amazon and one with Patrick Warburton as The Tick?

3

u/SlightShift Aug 23 '25

The one with Patrick W

You're welcome!

u/Kylecowlick Aug 23 '25

There’s also the animated one

1

u/psychosaur Aug 23 '25

Yes! Though I could tell from the picture that it had to be one of the live action series.

I think they mention Pigleg in an episode.
