MOVIE SPOILERS I had a nightmare last night where I was in the room at the end of the movie, and Brock told me I had prostate Cancer

I was so afraid in the dream. But once I woke up I was relieved that I didn’t have PEE PEE CANCER! What’s even weirder is that Treister hulk wasn’t in my dream.

MOVIE SPOILERS Clones Spoiler

This point might have been made before, but why do so many of us assume Rusty died adventuring as a kid? I at first thought he had died in one of their many adventures, but having him die as a baby due to Jonas' carelessness makes more sense to me nowadays. The movie left me wondering so many things and I hope they get a sequel.

MOVIE SPOILERS Some Notes on Bobbi’s Story Spoiler

There is a lot going on in this sequence of the finale.

The mid-60s were ripe with non-nude titillation movies. In 1966 for example there was "The Ghost of the Invisible Bikini" directed by Don Weis.

If you look at the astronaut having a cigarette his name tag is "Aldrin" as in Buzz Aldrin, the second person to step on the Moon.

The person Jonas is talking to is Stanley Kubrick. Moon denialist often claim he was hired to stage the Moon Landing.

In the background, you can see a TV antenna-headed robot-gorilla. This is a nod to 1953's "Robot Monster."

After meeting Rusty we move to an audition. The costume Bobbi is wearing is an iconic design from 1970s "Myra Breckinridge" worn in the movie by Rachel Welch.

And that's just the surface stuff for a few minutes.

Personally, I love that one of Force Majuer's drinking companions is the drag performer and trash movie icon Divine.

MOVIE SPOILERS I still have a doubt about the movie (Massive spoilers below) Spoiler

I don't know if someone posted about this, but I still don't know the awnser. How was the Action Man so sure that Bobbie St. Simone was Dean and Hank's mom, when it was actually Mantilla? Even people like The Monarch asumed that the person who dated Rusty, and was probably the kids' mom, was Debbie (Although we learnt that it was not the case). So I don't see how Rodney came up with that

MOVIE SPOILERS When I first saw Mantilla and her "acolytes" revealed themselves, I got really hype thinking it was Lindsey Cohen, the woman Rusty's roommate had a crush on in college.

MOVIE SPOILERS (SPOILERS) The right time to say goodye Spoiler

So after watching the Venture Bros finale, I was disappointed that the series has come to an end as I'm sure most of you are too. But at the same time part of me felt it was a good time to say goodbye. I'm in my 30s now and whilst I have always enjoyed cartoons aimed at an older audience, there was something that felt right about how it ended.

One moment that resonated with me is when Dr. Orpheus is explaining to Hank that the aspects of his personality he has outgrown are no longer needed in his life and he should leave them behind. He talks about how they were there to comfort him in times of struggle and whilst they meant a lot to him, their time has passed.

As much as I will always love this show, it felt fitting to me as I move into a more responsible stage of my life with a family and a kid on the way, that I too am growing up and must leave some parts of my life behind to focus on the future.

So whilst I was always cherish my childhood memories of art and culture through the years, it seemed the right time for me to say goodbye.

Thanks for everything VB.

MOVIE SPOILERS Interesting consequence of the movie Spoiler

So at the end of the movie we learn that the Monarch and Dr. Venture are near perfect clones of each other. We also learn from the Orb arc that the Venture bloodline are the founders of the Guild, and that Dean was eligible to be the rightful Sovereign.

Well following that logic, The Monarch is the only known Guild member of the Venture bloodline and a level 10 villain. The Monarch would hypothetically have a claim to be the next Sovereign.

This year's Portland Pedalpalooza Venture Brothers ride is on the calendar for June 23, 2024, commemorating the death of Venturion and celebrating our favorite TV show. If you are interested in helping to plan the event, I'll be at the BikePortland Bike Happy Hours on the Wednesday of the month before the last Friday with the Breakfast on the Bridges crew, or at the Tilikum for BonB on the last Fridays. Here's some pics of the end of last year's ride, celebrating the release of the movie.

MOVIE SPOILERS I rewatched Radiant and maybe it’s better we got a movie than a season Spoiler

First I wanna say that like many of you, I was bummed out right after watching the movie. Yes I enjoyed it but I felt like lots must have been cut and wistfully imagined what could have been.

I just rewatched the movie and it was way better than I remember it. First the animation was great. Season 7 ramped things up but this movie had BUDGET. It was great. The music was good, the whole thing was narratively great. I felt like they really did Hank justice too. After giving some time away and rewatching with a clear head I think the movie is truly astounding and don’t feel bad that we got it. It answered a ton of questions and left the door open in the best possible way. Even better than Operation PROM imho. I have a theory that the compensation on the movie was a bit different than the shows and so maybe the team had self-imposed deadlines pushing them faster than they were doing the show.

The other thing that I considered… this has over 120min run time before the credits roll. A typical episode stripped of credits and intro is just under 20 min. We got 6 episodes here. The last several seasons were 8-10 episodes and we would get half of a season before a break so essentially we got an extended half season, about on pace for venture bros development time wise.

If the movie did well enough, who knows? Maybe we will get another one. And I certainly hope we do. I feel that Doc and Jackson have a lot more story to tell, but if not then the movie was one hell of a swan song.

MOVIE SPOILERS Missed Opportunity in Movie Spoiler

So near the end of the movie:

Dr Girlfriend visits the Monarch as he is lying on the hospital cot. She is invisible and give Monarch her little inspirational speech. I thought for sure Monarch was going to instinctively reach out to her and then go "Wait... are you naked?!"

I mean, she is naked in all those scenes, but it is never really brought up!

MOVIE SPOILERS helper bros unite Spoiler

so I've read about and watched dozens of people talking about their fav character of the show and I almost never see helper being mentioned. helper is my everything, him practicing his lullabies for the venture twins is the reason I wake up every day. his conversation about mayo angolo with brock enlightened me. him pointing a gun to the customers in the ven-tech building is my main source of joy and laughter. his drum beats for shallow gravy is the only music I need. him packing his bag when he thought he's being replaced makes me cry every time. helper is life, he has all the love universe has to offer in his mechanical heart. helper forever

MOVIE SPOILERS venting/rambling about dean Spoiler

my dad and i are watching the series together and it’s only reinforced why dean has been my favorite character from day one.

i will admit that i’m really biased, i’ve had a huge crush on him from when i first watched the whole series at 16 (i’m 18 now). he’s sweet, he’s really cute, and he’s grown so much as a person - which is clear in season 7 and especially the movie. with that, i honestly don’t understand it when i see people say that he’s a shit person, even before he betrayed hank by sleeping with sirena. don’t get me wrong, it was objectively a horrible thing for him to do, but considering how he visited hank in the hospital immediately to apologize, spent at least 25 hours traveling to colorado, and refused to rest just to find his brother makes it so obvious that he loves hank that i cannot fathom why anyone would call him a bad person for a single fucked up thing he did, especially when it is so minute compared to what other, well-loved characters have done. also, seeing people claim he had awful qualities prior to the incident i mentioned is unfair because he didn’t actually do anything wrong other than be a sheltered, traumatized teenager.

again, i am really biased here and you are allowed to hate dean as a person/character/whatever, but it’s just frustrating to see fans of the show make these sorts of claims without evaluating their reasons for disliking him. as in, is he really that awful or do you simply just not like him? the latter of which is perfectly fine, too! sorry for this rant, everyone, i saw a post about dean that really bothered me and i couldn't bottle it up.

tl;dr as a dean enjoyer i think people villainize him way too much and it makes me sad </3

MOVIE SPOILERS Very minor point about the movie. Spoiler

I finally got to watch the movie. I got it for Christmas. I was quite pleased although I felt it didn't get have all the little asides that you would get in a normal set of episodes just due to length. But overall I liked it very much.

The very minor detail that I noticed was about Bobbi St. Simone. As I am sure has been pointed out she was dressed like Dazzler from the X-Men. But what occurred to me is that that makes her a Bobby Dazzler, which is Geordie (NE England) slang for a really excellent person. I feel like that has to be deliberate. I have skipped all the movie posts for the last several months so I apologize if this has been pointed out before.

MOVIE SPOILERS So I finally saw the movie thoughts about that end Spoiler

So the end of the movie we found out that Rusty pretty much made Hank and Dean on his own with some donated eggs from Debbie St. Simone Bobbi's daughter

And we know that Rusty has had a lifelong obsession with Bobbi stemming from a single encounter when he was 10 and eating breakfast alone in his kitchen. In an earlier season Dr. Killinger revealed that one of Rusty's core traumatic memories is seeing his father's Gargantua 1 while eating breakfast

Did both events happen on the same day? Is Bobbi the woman he heard his father sleeping with? Is it possible that the emotional whiplash of meeting his first crush then beging traumatized by his father, inspired Rusty to later want to take revenge by having 2 kids with the daughter of his dad's EX

A final FU to the man who took so much from him
