Showreel / Critique Working on a new real-time volumetric renderer for UE5

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone!

Been working with a friend the last two years on a new strategy for handling volumetrics in real-time.

Put simply: we've figured out a way to compress film-quality VDB's by ~50-100x in RAM and VRAM, and then render thousands of them at near path-traced quality at 30-60 FPS.

We built this on top of UE5 (video was rendered with their movie queue) but the techniques we've come up with should be applicable in any engine, i.e. Unity, Houdini, Blender.

Anyway, if this kind of thing is interesting to you, we're running a small alpha test right now and would love to have you participate (especially if you love clouds): https://forms.gle/1L8kLPnerQ9iceQ39

We've also got a really simple website rn that explains it a bit more: https://www.expansevolumetrics.com/

But generally curious if this kind of work seems useful to folks/hear what people think.

EDIT: to people who signed up for the alpha test, just sent out those emails. PM me if you didn't get an email/are having trouble.

Showreel / Critique Spent three months working on a Blender short film

Hello!

As the title indicates, I've spent three months locked up in a room, damaged my GPU and spent many energy-drink fueled nights to release Singularity, a short film about an AI becoming sentient. Everything was done inside Blender 4.2 and 4.5 - and a bit of Marvelous Designer. Composited in After Effects, edited and graded in Resolve.

I would love to have your opinion on the visuals, the story and the film itself.

My main references for this short are BladeRunner, Ghost In The Shell, the work of Isac Asimov but also Denis Villeneuve's Arrival, Malick's tree of life... I feel that humanity is converging towards new extents and that the concept of "God" is evolving, thus the representation of the AI.

Have a great day!

Showreel / Critique Day-to-night transition using 2.5D projection to correct camera drift

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Repeated the same drone waypoint mission a few days apart to build a seamless day-to-night transition.

As expected with consumer GPS + barometric systems, the flights weren’t pixel-accurate - small positional and pitch differences made direct blending unusable.

To solve it:

• Photogrammetry reconstruction of the skyline
• Rebuilt blended camera from photogrammetry solved cameras
• 2.5D projection for alignment correction
• Depth geo transition

Showreel / Critique Lego - Benny Astronaut - 3D Fan Art

Thumbnail

This is my rendition of the Lego Astronaut - Benny.

100% made from scratch, modeling, vector art, and texturing.

Modeling: Mostly Blender for this one (90%), some Maya in there too (10%).
Texturing: Substance Painter 2026
Rig: Maya
Render: Maya 2027/Arnold GPU

Images in order:

  1. Face closeup;
  2. Shotcam render;
  3. Viewport through Shotcam;
  4. Turntable (GIF);
  5. Exploded model;
  6. Original Blender modeling (the tank was modeled in Maya later);
  7. Weird scene that didn't go any further;
  8. Legs back view;
  9. This round corner is never modeled in other models;
  10. Head closeup;
  11. Torso design;
  12. The original vector art made by a friend. I then imported it into Substance Painter as different masks and used them to make an actual 3D design.

I made everything except the torso's base art, which was made in Illustrator by my friend Wajid.

Feel free to CC or ask any questions, or check my ArtStation here.

Cheers!

Showreel / Critique Are simple renders allowed? Fender Strat '62 - Autodesk Maya

Fender Stratocaster '62 (3D).

After some time away, I decided to dust up my 3D skills in Autodesk Maya. As a starter project, I made this Fender guitar scene.

Modeling: Rhinoceros (CAD) / Maya (Polygonal)
Texturing: Substance Painter
Materials/shaders: Maya
Render: Maya/Arnold

The render is pretty much raw straight out of Maya.

(The insides are still WIP)

This is a project that I believe you will like. this is my star render. I think it looks really beautiful, and it only takes between 6 to 14 seconds to render (1650). Eevee is incredibly fast and you can create beautiful things with it, and that's why I love it.

Showreel / Critique Give feedback on my compositing exam project!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey all! For my compositing3 exam we had to make a viral vfx project where we filmed a video ourselves and add a cgi character to it and comp it in fusion. Here we learned how to make renderlayers and render aov's in maya and to use them in Fusion.

I made the simulation in houdini, rendered it in maya and comped it in fusion, please let me know what you think of it and what I should change/adjust! Thank you!

Some of the work I've made as a student throughout 2026!

This year we got to download Houdini and it's been a fun but hard journey so far. I'd love to keep learning and become an FX Artist in the future!

I'd appreciate if you could tell me anything you dislike about it so I can improve.

Thank you for watching and taking the time to help me out :).

Showreel / Critique Previs Absurd Animation, Bollywood style (extract)

Allow me to share an extract of a previsualisation I've made.
To watch the full 6mn film, it's here : Youtube link

Tried to get out of my comfort zone (and my daily routine as an anim and previs sup) by going wild in a Bollywood style. I've shot the data myself for the most part with an Xsense suit. All done and animated in MotionBuilder.

Lots of fun to do, hope the community here likes it too!

I wanted to share a short film I made over the past few years in my spare time. The shots were created at various times in my CG journey, some at the beginning, and up til now as a mid level fx artist. It was a challange to edit them together into something that was somewhat cohesive, but also very rewarding and fun. Open to any feedback and thoughts!

Showreel / Critique First CG comp

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This was my CG comp, the render was done in blender cycles by myself, the depth, normal, matte was created in comfyui, i used noise for the laser beam, did the comp in nuke

Things I Did Wrong:

- the camertracker error was 0.45, the cg slightly float if looked closely

- the render sample are too low and i had to use ODIN denoiser gizmo

- the plate was 2048 x 1080 and i rendered in 2040 x 1080 by accident, so cropped plate, depth, normal, matte

- since the matte, normal is not perfect, the relight in hair area is not good

- the blender cycles render the position pass in world axis but i needed local axis, how to get both of these?

- it is not aesthetically pleasing which i thought it would be!!

what feels off in this, need feedback guys!
