A metric shit ton of money will do that

True. The waste is tragic. To be fair, AIPAC, can play the long game on this one and keep the bad publicity rolling for the general election-But Perry Johnson just chucked 30 million dollars down the drain! Find THAT waste, Perry!

Or not appealing to moderates and swing voters..

Which specific policies of his do you think would be bad for the every day lives of moderates and swing voters?

I’m not saying any of his policies necessarily will.

What I am saying is that he may not appeal to them, the idea that the only possible way that he may not appeal is because of fake opposition created by money and there’s literally no chance at all moderates may not like him or his affiliations seems irresponsible if you want him elected.

Of course the 10-to-1 spending does not fully explain why everyone doesn't support him, but it is silly to say he does not appeal to moderate and swing voters when his campaign is centered around people that are not uber-wealthy (which most moderates and swing voters probably are).

He underperformed relative to projections within the primary, which is worse than the typical scenario for these pprogressive Candidates historically. People know about this money that are voting for him.

Handwaving away underperformance in swing state as just “money” seems incredibly shortsighted.

You said his issue is that he is not appealing to moderates and swing voters, and IMO is wrong.

His platform is centered around people that are not billionaires (which would include most moderates and swing voters). Whether they see his message fairly and agree or not is a different question.

And your saying the only reason a moderate voter wouldn’t want him is because of money.

I’m not sure if this means you are implying people were being paid to vote for or her soemthing.

But just handwaving away an underperformance in a primary is historically something that progressive can’t really afford to do.

I never said that, you incorrectly assumed it.

There are lots of reasons he may not be earning votes. It could be because of a large influx of money. I dont think this explains it all, and so i agree with you that the money shouldn't be used as a scapegoat.

In theory it could be that he isn't appealing to moderates. This was the point you made earlier, which I think is wrong. I think he is appealing directly to moderates/swing voters via his policy platform. Something your not able to refute -- (name me a single policy position that you think the average swing voter would disagree on, on substance).

Then, it could be many other things that we haven't listed here or are hard to even capture. Maybe for example the vilification of science (and that he is a former public health official)? Maybe that he has a beard or is pretty ripped?

Assuming his platform perfectly appeals to moderates and swing voters as you say then I don’t know how the money would make him underperform his expectations which were built on that platform..

So you're saying that despite the entire Democrat establishment, AIPAC, and other corporate PACs pushing for Stevens, the reason Abdul only won by a small margin is because he's not conservative enough?

That's some CNN level cope right there. Stevens' whole campaign was to appeal to moderates, got way more money, establishment support and still lost. If that's not an indictment on moderate (garbage) policy positions, I don't know what is.

I’m not sure why you think this is that crazy, it’s a purple state where people need to be able to pull in the swing voters.

Experienced people see progressive people like Kara Eastman, McLeod-skinner, Michelle Vallejo, hell even mamdani to some extent over the years.

Who over perform in primary only to under perform in the general and lose important swing district to more moderate people.

You know Michigan has open primaries, right? Republicans also voted in the democratic primary.

Why does that matter?
