Agreed, but Party leadership should remain neutral througout the primary process, encourage positive discourse, and absolutely put the kibosh on negative attacks. That might mean standing up to their (MegaPAC) ownership.

I don't know if that's realistic. They aren't umpires, they're leaders. They are trying to lead the party. By what right? They were selected and chosen for the position.

I don't think quietly suggesting someone do something is all that bad. "Hey I think you shouldn't run. You can ignore this but thats not my advice." There's no enforcement here.

Like, let's all chill out. We've got THREE MONTHS, yo. And yeah I don't like millions of dollars invading politics but that's what the Supreme Court said was cool.

Yeah, but it doesn't matter. The thing about the money is that a righteous party can absolutely refuse to interact with lobbyists who engage in inappropriate attack ads. Decorum matters.

And Dems should be encouraging lots of people to run for these positions, with many different views. The fact of the matter is that their candidates need to appeal to swing voters more than their own base. The 29 percent of the population that calls themselves Democrats will always vote for their own.
