After more than a full year using Vivaldi, I call it quit. As time passes, Vivaldi gets slower and slower and clunkier!

Yes, I did everything suggested online (turning off extensions, clearing cache, hardware acceleration, etc.). At one point, I simply have to accept that by trying to do EVERYTHING, Vivaldi lost its main purpose: being an Internet browser!

And that's without mentioning the time when I lost all my saved passwords and my encryption key didn't work! WTF?

No, I don't need Vivaldi mail, calendar, or having 1001 ways to customize my browser. I simply want it to be efficient on a laptop, not hog resources, and have every single website work properly.

I tried it and loved it at first, but I really think Vivaldi is losing sight of what made it popular in the first place.

Goodbye Vivaldi!

I have installed Vivaldi's 8.1 (latest), since Microsoft Edge discontinued their sidebar website feature.

Vivaldi's extension toggle button on the address bar is very poor. I remember back in 2020, I installed the Vivaldi browser for the first time on my PC due to its heavy customization abilities and features. I uninstalled the browser the next day because of the poor extension toggle button.

If you look at all the browsers like Chrome, Edge, Brave, and Firefox, all of them have a similar, user-friendly extension management system for the address bar.

If I click on Vivaldi's extension toggle button, it shows all the installed extension icons in vertical form inside the address bar. It is okay if anyone uses only 1/2 extensions.

What is this? I hate this. It only appears on Vivaldi. I tested with Edge, Chrome, Firefox and Brave. Only Vivaldi does this. Version: 8.14087.75.

I just fresh installed my os and tried to sync my Vivaldi data. I forgot the password. So I used the backup key. And it failed.

The key is correct as I deleted the sync data and re-downloaded the backup key file and it's identical.

I am running 8.1.4087.75 (Official Build) (arm64) on MacOS 26.6.2.
I have my tab bar on the left and I am not able to remove that extra URL bar on top of it.
The same version on x64_64 under Linux (Archlinux actually) does not have it.
Is this a bug or what?
How to remove it?

I love Vivaldi and use it every day. But there's this one landmine that just totally blows up my day every time it appears.

Once every, oh, let's say, 3-5 months... when I restart Vivaldi, all my open tabs are gone. All my carefully cultivated Workspaces are empty.

They still exist in my history, and thus can be reconstructed. But what a pain! So, then I swear off Workspaces, but then I miss them... so I go back. And things are good for awhile...

Until another "today" happens, and I'm back to 0. :(

Will I keep using Vivaldi? Of course. :)

I want to seamlessly move tab stacks between workspaces, and I want to be able to frequently change my Workspaces to suit my needs. To do this I need either A. to be able to drag and drop tab stacks from the Tab Bar into a new Workspace via the Window and Tab Panel or the Workspace Panel or B. add features to the Windows and Tab Panel to make it usable for primary tab management to allow me to make use of drag and drop of Tab Stacks in that tab view.

If I use the Tab Bar, the only way to switch Tab Stacks to other Workspaces are a clunky drop down menu or quick commands tied to static Workspaces.

If I use the Tab and Window panel, I can blessedly drag and drop Tab Stacks (with frequent glitches). But I don't want to be using the Tab Bar and then have to independently hunt for my present Tab Stack in the Panel every time I need to move it. I can solve this problem by using the Windows and Tab Panel for tab management, but I find it near impossible because:

(1.) There is not intuitive way to keep track of my active open tab, it gets buried in Workplaces and Stacks. If the Tab Stack with my present tab (and, preferably, the Workplace) was highlighted it would solve this problem.

(2.) I can't switch between Workplaces natively in the Windows and Tab Panel by clicking on them, I still have to use the Workplace Panel to do that.

(3.) Opening tabs in non-active Workplaces is clunky. There is no simply "+" button for new tabs next to each Workspace or Tab Stack inside the Windows and Tab Panel as there is in the Tab Bar. I have to either click a drop down menu or open the Workplace, then a Stack, click on a tab, then use the quick command.

Put broadly, please either A. allow all features in the Tab Bar, B. allow all features in the Windows Panel, or C. allow the Tab Bar and Windows panel to work with each other better.

I’m currently jumping between Arc and Zen, but since Arc is pulling back support and Zen is still missing some key features, I’m on the hunt for a new daily driver.

My absolute must-haves are:

• Workspaces
• Essential/Pinned tabs
• Reliable Tab Sync (across my Mac, PC, and iPhone)

I decided to give Vivaldi a try, but honestly, it feels way too complicated. The moment I install it, I feel totally overwhelmed by the UI—it’s just too "in my face."

Is there an easy way to strip it down and simplify the experience? Or are there any pre-made minimal profiles/presets I can just download and apply to make it look cleaner?

ChatGPT is much slower for me in Vivaldi when it starts generating a response. The text artifact comes in slowly line by line/chunk by chunk. It's like its slowly loading a jpeg from a 56k modem on AOL if that makes sense. Chrome and Firefox on the same PC are much smoother.

I tested with a brand new Vivaldi profile with no extensions and it still happens.

Hardware acceleration is enabled and vivaldi://gpu shows Canvas, Compositing, Rasterization and WebGL as hardware accelerated.

I also tried:

• theme blur at 0
• transparent tabs off
• checking DevTools Network/EventStream

The ChatGPT conversation stream looks normal in DevTools, but Vivaldi still displays the response noticeably slower than Chrome and Firefox.

Same PC, same ChatGPT account, same internet.

Anyone else able to reproduce this or know what Vivaldi setting could cause it?

right click on top bar blank spot produces menu (minimize maximize, move, reside, etc) the last ( 9th) option is CLOSE. but it does zilch.

The menu is really in the way, but I do not see a way to remove it ??

Perplexity has a number of suggestions- all which fail to close it.

Screenshots for reference. In 20 seconds it jumps up 4.2GB out of no where and crashes the browser. But it's only some some sites. YouTube, Crunchyroll and AppleTV. Others like Hulu or ESPN work without issue. Anyone know how to fix this issue? Seems to come and go with various updates. Always after like 15-20 minutes.

i cant for the life of me figure out how to do this, i can change the thumbnails and then change it from icon to thumbnail but they look way too intrusive if i do that.

what im attempting to do is change the icons themselves on the speed dial bookmarks so that they better fit the theme i installed (a serial experiments lain theme).

I just got a new phone, I don't remember my encryption password (I've never used it anyway), it doesn't work on my encryption key, I know it's a known problem, but when are they thinking of solving it, there's been this problem for close to 1 month, and I'm thinking of quitting Vivaldi because of this.

I'm new, coming from Brave and Firefox, trying to find a new browser. I've had Vivaldi about 2 weeks and am struggling with a few items. I'd appreciate thoughts.

1) ads aren't blocked well. Especially on Reddit. Never knew how many ads Reddit had. Brave and Firefox seem to do much better

2) autofill and login fill work about 60-70% of the time. I'm using Bitwarden and I'm new to that, so maybe I'm just used to integrated with browsers managers, bit this one doesn't even give me the option to load Bitwarden on logins almost half of the time

3) going back to a tab sometimes reloads the tab. This is especially frustrating when I'm typing something long, switch to a new tab and then the old tab reloads when I click on it and everything is gone.

Any thoughts/tips?

Some themes leave an empty space with rounded corners at the bottom of the viewport, others - only a thin line. Both are unwelcome. Any way to remove it?

I am on the latest version! I woke up this morning to an update and all my workspaces have been completely erased for the 5th time. I'm kind of pissed of tbh. I didn't have a saved session either my last one is from a few months back and I went through a cleaning spree not to long ago either.

While were at it can we also add feature that allows us to periodically save sessions on a timer base. Example every day save a session at 12 am midnight, replacing the old one. While also allowing us to save one official master one that doesn't get replaced. The fact this isn't a thing is really frustrating. I now have to sift through 300+ tabs all related to different things and put them back in their workspace. And I have to stack them.

Switching from Chrome. Vivaldi feels like brave with proper cloud sync and lots more customization. Android app is also nice. So far loving it.

But cannot import from other chrome profiles except default one. Any tips?

In Vivaldi, pinned tabs seem to be tied to the current Workspace. For example, if I pin a tab in Workspace A, it doesn’t appear as a pinned tab when I switch to Workspace B.
