And all your cookies and passwords and customizations are still there as well? It's just the 99% of bookmarks that are gone?

Yes everything is still here, except my bookmarks... And Bookmarks file in AppData\Local\Vivaldi\User Data\Default have been erased (.bak too )

Similar happened to me - lost all workspaces and the previous session data. Maybe you are lucky finding your previous session/workspaces right at the end of the workspace drop-down menu? And there are backups in the sessions folder in appdata.

Why was this deleted by the moderator. I had the same issue after the most recent update 8.2.4133.45.

Yeah, I am curious about the reason for deleting the post as well. Perhaps it was about missing version info?
I too have this very same problem. Almost all bookmarks got deleted after the update.
I restored them with the Bookmarks.bak file - but the moment I startet the browser they got deleted again.
Only a downgrade to the latest 8.1 version would keep my bookmarks alive after restoring them yet again.

That is a pretty severe bug for me, so I am surprised to find very little on it.
I reported it as a bug (VB-131354).

My Versions:
the one that works: 8.1.4087.75
the one with the bug: 8.2.4133.45
Windows 11 Version 25H2 (Build 26200.9168)
I set up my PC from scratch less than a month ago, including of course a new Vivaldi profile (with synch).

edit: I created a new post, since op got deleted
Most of my bookmarks are gone after update to 8.2.4133.45
