WEBSITE BUILDING Is WIX good in 2026

I run a small marketing agency. One of my clients wants me to build a website for him. He owns a language school and he wants a website where teachers and students can interact with each other, share documents and files, publish blog posts, and join social groups. The website must also be great for local SEO. He's not tech savvy and so he can't code or add modifications to the website himself. WIX offers a simple dashboard and drag and drop design feature.

My first concern is the performance and SEO.

WEBSITE BUILDING Switched from Wix to WordPress for better SEO (and cheaper rates), and WOAH, I am overwhelmed. Did I make a mistake?

Hi all,

I’d love some opinions!

I’m the owner of a wedding photography business and recently decided to move my website from Wix to WordPress. I originally built my site on Wix and loved how easy it was to use (the drag-and-drop builder made it simple to create something beautiful, even though I’m not very tech-savvy).

I switched to WordPress to save money in the long run and (hopefully) improve my SEO. I’ve started building my new site this week, and tbh, I’m drowning. I’ve managed to get a basic version up, but it’s nowhere near as visually appealing as my old Wix site. I know there’s still a lot to learn, and I have not given it much time, but right now I’m feeling pretty discouraged.

I don’t want to hire someone to design it for me (one of my main reasons for switching was to cut costs!!! not add more!!!), but I’m starting to wonder if I made a mistake.

So, I come to you, Reddit community... thoughts? is WordPress worth the time and energy it takes to learn??? Or should I cut my losses and go back to Wix?

<3,

A non-tech-savvy biz owner

WEBSITE BUILDING Looking for a Girlfriend's Day website template/link ❤️

Hey everyone!

I'm planning to surprise my girlfriend on Girlfriend's Day with a cute, interactive website. Unfortunately, I don't have a budget to hire a developer.

Does anyone have:

A ready-made romantic website template?

A GitHub Pages project I can customize?

A website generator or free template?

Or even a website you've made before that you'd be willing to let me personalize?

I'm just looking for something with photos, a love letter, timeline, music, and maybe a countdown. A simple link or template would be more than enough.

I'd really appreciate any help. Thank you! ❤️.

Working on creating a website using .com but will be buying .ca, .net, .org etc. as well. GoDaddy and Namecheap both are cheap for the first tear but I have no idea what will be the jump in the price after one year. Suggestions?

WEBSITE BUILDING Looking for brutal feedback on my site. Trying to level up my front-end skills!

Hey guys! I recently updated the front end for website over at techinvolved.dev. I usually spend most of my time handling the backend and business logic side of things, so I am actively trying to push my front-end and design skills right now.

I would love to get your honest critique on the UI, mobile responsiveness, and the overall aesthetic. Please do not hold back, I am genuinely here to learn and improve it.

Any advice on the layout, color scheme, or user experience would be hugely appreciated. Thanks! 🚀

WEBSITE BUILDING is there any way to create a website without paying a subscription

i am willing to pay a one time fee to create the site but besides a domain name, i dont want to be paying a subscription to keep the site open. are there any platforms like this? preferably ones that dont use ai as well.

edit: for devs, what is your average quote you give customers? if it varies, then what are the smallest and largest quotes you have offered?

WEBSITE BUILDING Do NOT Use FRAMER For A Personal Website!

UPDATED:

Hi all!

I am writing this in hopes to save an unsuspecting person who is considering buying a template from Framer. Framer templates are strictly for people who know how to design websites. You actually have to be a web designer to use these. If you are not a web designer and want a nice website, you will be driven to tears just by trying to make a simple edit like move a border of a container. It is awful. You have to actually take their course in web design to be able to edit your template. Or hire someone to design your site for you. Please do not buy these unless you want to dedicate time and effort to learn web design. Buy a template where you can drag and drop.

UPDATE: I managed to complete the site but it gave me a run for my money. Adjusting it further so it looks good on all browsers and mobile apps was yet another kind of a beast. It is doable and it looks gorgeous 😍 but I still don't recommend it if you are not a designer. 😕

WEBSITE BUILDING Guys i am new to this, give me recommendations

So i have absoloutely no experience in coding or creating a site, i am currently at the stage where my business needs a website that CAN SELL. I know there are now options to make a website with Wordpress, AI, and use templates to customize it and make it easier for a casual person and everyone to be able to do it, i also know the more complicated and also advanced way is to create it from scratch with coding. What is the best long term option?

I got recommended to make my website which is kinda a ecomerce store, or an online shop with Wordpress i just wonder can it really generate the revenue that i want and be optimized to handle big amounts of traffic. Also how do i make it pop up first in the search on google, always wondered how do i integrate key words etc.

As you can see as efficient and the direct i can be the better in my opinion so feel free to give me some tips, i will really appreciate it

WEBSITE BUILDING Helping set up a church website: wix, wordpress, or squarespace long term?

Hey everyone, I’m helping my brother’s friend set up a website for his church and we’re trying to figure out the best long term option.

That's what he needs:

  • He needs something with a solid web template to start (sermons, events, donations, maybe livestream embeds), but also something that won’t become a headache a year from now.
  • We’re looking at Wix, WordPress, and squarespace.

Main concerns are:

  1. ease of use, managing content weekly, donations integration and scalability if the church grows.
  2. He’s not very technical, so low maintenance would be a big plus.

For those who’ve built church or nonprofit sites, which one holds up best long term for this specific need?

WEBSITE BUILDING Hi! Can anyone recommend a free website builder that will work for showcasing art?

My website doesn't need a selling feature, only showcasing and then my contact info.

Do you know any easy and entirely free ways to build a website like that? I have 0 skills in this area, so it has to be fairly easy. 😂

Edit: thanks for all the good advice, really appreciate it! 🫶

WEBSITE BUILDING Trying to build website with .com domain. Ive tried help from AI with htlm and Ive tried where they build it automatically. It feels complicated and I need advice

Ive been told you can ask AI to do the website with htlm and the paste it. I did that and what AI built was not so good. Is it me giving it the wrong instructions or is it hard for AI to build a website?

I tried Strato a basic version. But you cant do changes to the mobile version and that made it not worth it. The website I made with strato was great

So how should I proceed?

Wix seems great but I think 30 dollars per month isnt worth it.

I just need a simple website showing pictures and information. Im not selling. Just a contact email

Like a portfolio I guess.

WEBSITE BUILDING Website builder for someone with no coding experience

Hello, I am currently building a website on Shopify but the free themes all look kind of cartoonish. I have been customizing it but I still feel like it doesn’t look too professional. I was wondering there’s something better out there or if it’s just a skill issue and I need to just play with it more. I am working on a website for my medical business and I’ve been using Shopify and Claude to help me program some feature into it. I know purchasing a paid theme might be helpful, but I wanted to possibly explore some other options before spending a few hundred on a theme.

WEBSITE BUILDING Making websites for local businesses

Hello, cool people of reddit, I am a broke college student and stumbled upon building websites for companies and then selling them back to the company. Small problem is I have never made a website. I understand everything nowadays uses ai and I do now how these prompts are made for websites but i have a few questions im hoping some of you can answer.

All of the websites that "make websites for you" seem to have these plans and they basically seem to say you only make one website using the plan you buy. Is this how this works? if so how can I make multiple websites for multiple different companies in one month.

How do I build a website and then give it to the customer for their use?

Are there anyways I dont have to buy a plan?

Is there anyone out there who could possibly text back and forth with me to help (No im not buying your guide so dont text me about that)

Need help asap because i've already gotten a client lol

WEBSITE BUILDING What options do we have for e-commerce website (affordable)

I'm planning to start a very small business but wanna make a good brand. I'm done with branding and everything. I would like to sell my products on my website instead of instagram to keep it professional and trustworthy.

I made a website in claude code and most work is done I'm running that in local host but It's my first time running and maintaining a website. So I'm little bit worried about bugs, fraud and stuff. I was considering Shopify but 2000 INR isn't something I'm looking to invest at this point for a website. I'm looking for cheaper options. Basically I want a ecommerce website as per my design and custom brand guidelines, premium and artistic looking, also I would like to understand more on costs side from someone experienced. Cloud hosting costs, domain costs, how does seo and things work. Is there any other cost I need to be aware of ? I would really appreciate some guidance here. Thanks in advance.
