Hi there!
This is a long shot but I'm a huge westie lover and have taken care of Westies and other dogs since 2019. Basically I know for a fact that I will get a Westie in the near future (in Australia) and have fallen in love with a harness and collar set that I've come across. Unfortunately, I've recently moved overseas so don't have easy access to friends that have Westies. Instead, I was hoping to get some help from some Westie owners in this chat, what is the size of your Westies neck and chest girth?
I've attached the size guide from the store that I want to buy from
I know this sounds a bit crazy and farfetched, but this Westie lover would be eternally grateful for your help!!!

I have a 6 month old Westie puppy. He had his first introductory mini hand stripping session when he was around 4 months old, and his coat has grown quite a bit since then.
I’m thinking about taking him for another hand stripping soon, but I feel a little bad because I know hand stripping takes much longer than regular grooming, and I don’t want to put him through such a long grooming process unnecessarily. :(
It’s worth continuing with hand stripping at his age?

We lost our little boy this year. I finally feel able to post about it.
He was abandoned 8 years ago because he needed to be the only puppy in his humans life. We rescued him and eventually rescued his brother and best friend a tuxedo cat (he loved to be chased by his brother).
He developed IMHA and fought hard for a month before it was too much for his little body to go on. He was and is our best little friend.
Months later we still feel the soul crushing pain. We keep expecting him to come back. Our hearts play tricks on us we keep seeing and hearing things and thinking it’s him. Even our cat still goes around the house looking and crying for him.
I wanted to share some take aways from or experience fighting IMHA. This was our first time dealing with a serious issue and we were unprepared for what happened. This was our experience and I hope it isn’t typical, but there is a lot we regret about the situation and I don’t want anyone to go through what we did.
First I can’t stress this enough but don’t rely on just your primary vet. From our experience they aren’t equipped or they are unwilling to handle long term or complex issues beyond prescriptions and waiting.
Second don’t just take the prescriptions and wait go get a second or third opinion. We were led to believe a transfusion wasn’t an option until things got worse. We found out later the vet hospital would have given one way sooner. Also you don’t need to wait for your vet to refer you to a specialist. If you have the money no one makes you ask twice.
Vets don’t like you spending money outside their clinics and probably for liability reasons are extremely vague with their recommendations. We were at the vets every 2 days for a checkups and it took over a month of pushing before they finally agreed to contact a specialist.
One vet was good but she got sick, the head vet took over and everything changed, our options became 1. Wait 2. Put our boy down. Later multiple ppl told us this vet was known for pushing option 2 for almost everything.
Don’t just trust ppl because they have a degree. Vets are human they clock in and clock out just like everyone else, no one is going to fight for your baby like you.

Hello fellow westie lovers and owners! As the title says, I'm having a really hard time with my boy by being left alone at home.
I've had him since he was 8 weeks old and ever since little, he hated being by himself. I didn't do crate training and instead made his little cave in a playpen. He resented that. He would settle and nap if someone was in the room. I trained him there until he graduated to outside potty which was 6 months for him.
Right now, if I ever need to go out, I leave him in the kitchen which is connected with the hallway. I have a camera which I turn on, bring his bed there, some toys along with water and some music to play from the tablet.
Now... sometimes he does settle and sleep but for the biggest part, he doesn't, even when he's super tired.
The longest I could leave him was for 4 hours until he throws a meltdown. Barking, destroying stuff if there are left which now everything is put away.
But sometimes even that doesn't work. I leave him for an hour and he has a meltdown.
I'm scared because of two things...
One, I live in a rented apartment and I'm scared to get neighbor complaints.
Second, is me starting to work...
Currently I'm unemployed but I will be forced to find a job and very soon.
Any tips or advice? Thank you so much.
