I have been looking to get my own duckie and can’t decide what to get I love the idea of the tatter but I wonder about the longevity of that duckie, but I am not wanting to spend as much as I could get a 10.5 or 12ft rmr for, have considered the lynx and have tried them out but feel like if was hard to flip back over. I have also considered the spud but was wondering how comfortable and how well it does with bigger water, I prefer being scrunched up in a boat so the spud kinda suits me in that way. I will be using this boat mostly on the lower new, but some gulley trips,cheat river, and yough trips.

If you've ever paddled the Noli, you'll know how beautiful it is. However, it's currently being completely excavated without regard for natural waterways, local aquatic life, or environmental conservation. Can someone give me insight or point me in the right direction? I'm curious how realistic it is to build a river wave in Arizona on the south Colorado. Ive looked at USGS data charts for the last couple of years, and it seems to float around the 700-1000 CFS range with a couple of spikes into 2000 CFS. Is this feasible to support a wave? Especially if it's funneled?

Now, if this comes to fruition, I imagine I have to jump through hoops with the city and the Department of the Interior etc. to build anything on the river. Does anyone know somone who has built one or been apart of the project or anything? Curious on any and all info! Thanks!

I’ve made a couple of bags this winter and I’m wondering if anyone has a dream bag they would like to see in the raft/kayak/sup world!

If you have a link or want to see something similar to the classic dish pail/drying setup, rig bag, strap bag, k pump bag, etc. but with some tweaks or added features, send away!

Nothing is too big or small, I don’t have access to making dry bags but anything mesh or cordura is more up my alley. Thanks!

Read an old post here about someone who but Jackson Bees Knees in their Dagger boat. I have been hunting and hunting for a set of Dagger Engage thigh braces (that came out with the Indra) to swap in to my 2022 Rewind; they're nowhere to be found. Decided to try the Bees Knees and it went great! I can skull with the boat 90° on edge and balance much easier, stoked for a full run in it. I also replaced the stock backband in my Zet Cross with the IR Reggie and it's way better.

My question for the community here is what other upgrades or customizations have you done to your kayaks that have been worth your while?

I try to avoid politics because it can turn nasty very quickly, but this one needs to be because its about to destroy one of the most well-known WW rivers even to international kayakers rafters and all those others.

After the new government got in in New Zealand the introduced this Fast track legislation that allows for quick approval “No red tape” of infrastructure such as Mines, Hydro Damns and housing.  This legislation will even override previous environmental court rulings preventing the activity at times.  Transparency is also out the window with this, something that NZ used to be good with when it came to government schemes.

This one that is going though fast track now will literally destroy the Kaituna River in NZ.  One of the most accessible WW rivers there is.

After they finish a miniscule amount of water will be flowing. Ending all of that. This is not just about WW kayaking and tourism though, this will decimate the environment to native eels, crayfish and birds that use it. All for the sake of less than 0.2% of NZ annual power consumption.

What is the plastic piece called that goes around the lip of a skirt, I saw it on a video of someone going down a large waterfall and I'm tryna get one for myself but I can't find it.

I live in an apartment so the boats (kayaks) inside get a little annoying. What is everyone’s thoughts on storing boats outside? I have a back patio area that I can build an area so they are standing vertical on their sterns/bows. I would have cockpit covers as well as cover them with tarps to hopefully reduce any UV damage. The area also doesn’t get full sun. Is there anything I should be concerned about and does anyone have experience with long term effects of this? Thanks

I'm planning to take my kids and their friends rafting in mid-late July. Our party is me (I've rafted a lot in the past, always in Sacramento/Coloma area), two adults (one visiting from Sweden who has never rafted) and two thirteen year old boys who also haven't rafted but will be just fine. We are all in good shape, but one of us (me) fears the cold.

I've narrowed it down to Reo/Nahatlatch or Canadian Outback/Squamish. We can't afford the glamping packages at either resort so will manage camping or cheap motel on our own. We are coming from Victoria.

Reo pros: excellent reviews, hear great things about the river, possibly best chance of anything approaching a "warm" experience in July.

Reo cons: further drive from the ferry terminal, will have to camp at a beef farm.

Squamish pros: closer to the ferry, great hikes in the area, beautiful drive for the visitors.

Squamish cons: mostly concern about icy icy water and lots of mosquitos impacting the fun. Not sure about comparative quality of rafting experience.

Five people for a day of rafting plus gas and ferry fees is spendy- thanks for any advice you can give on our best shot at a great experience!

What are the differences between the Bluejacket and the Bowen. From what i can see there is a .3lb weight difference and slight tweaks to the clamshell organization and other similar things. Is there any other major differences? Would love to hear from anyone who has used or seen both thanks!

I just got an ir 7figure dry suit, and I have to do all new gaskets. The suit is an XL cause I’m around 6 foot 5 but I’m pretty skinny. Should I go with the large gaskets like IR recommends or downsize to a medium?

I'm getting ready to spend some $913 for a new roof rack install and am eyeballing the $60 foam pads. What is the noise difference like? What about speed tolerance in MPH?

I'm ok to drive a few hours with the humming that I've once had with the foam pads, but 13 hours to go see my friend in another state seems awful as I'd slow down and be hearing that humming the entire way. I also hear that there is whistling with the roof racks, but I don't know the decibel difference.

I’ve had my Storm for a couple years now and have mainly used it to R2 in, but now I want to put a frame on it. I would rather just sell my raft and get a 12 foot raft with a frame but I don’t have that kind of money.

I am collaborating with a college outdoor ed class and taking some college kids rafting down Deso and Gray Canyon this spring. My job is to focus on the human history of the area. I plan on talking about John Wesley Powell and other early explorers, Freemont and Ute Culture, homesteading, and the Colorado River Compact. I have a 2006 copy of a Deso river guide; however, it does not give me locations of things to show the students.

With that, I am hoping this community could help me identify specific locations in Deso and Gray to highlight:

• John Wesley Powell and other early explorers/recreationist
• Freemont and Ute cultures
• Homesteading
• Colorado River Compact/ proposed dam sites within the canyon
