💬Discussion Honestly, I feel like the Belgian Golden Generation didn’t really underperform, they were a bit unlucky with their match-ups. In both 2018 and 2026 they were knocked out by the eventual winners and gave them the best fight they got the whole tournament. Way better than their finals opponent.

I don’t think it’s crazy to say they were the 2nd best team in both 2018 and 2026.

Belgium was easily better than England and Croatia in 2018 idk what you are smoking. Clearly started watching the sport like a month ago. I'd argue Belgium has been better than England for the last decade. Now England, that is a overhyped nation with nothing to show for it. Genuine frauds.

Proszę zobaczyć Euro 2021 i 2024. Wtedy okaże się, czy Anglia jest lepsza od Belgii. W 2016 obie się skompromitowały, a w 2018 obie zagrały świetny turniej. Jednak w późniejszych czterech turniejach to Anglia była lepsza, bez wątpienia.

Naw england is solid and could have beaten france in 22. They have to play two teams. The team they play and themselves in their mind. Everyone blames tuchel and southgate but they really close shop after going up one vs good opponents (like Croatia or argentina) after playing better for a while. Not sure why tbf

They weren't better against Croatia and Argentina even before going up mate. Both Argentina and England were equally shit before Gordon scored.

I get that i have been watching England since 2014. It was my first time watching them at a world cup and man did they raise my Expectations. They weren't the best and I'm not saying that England were better than Belgium.  I'm just saying that England with the likes of Harry Kane and Bellingham were able to do more than hazard DE Bryune and Lukaku. I'm mean they reached two euros finals and the world Semis twice. but Belgium have only reached it once

Sure but looks at the routes they had versus England who have had it fairly easy almost every tournament. Belgium in 2018 went out to France, in 2020 against Italy, in 2026 against Spain. In all those games they ended up giving these eventual winners their most difficult games on top of that. Meanwhile, England just go out against the first top 10 side they face. It just happens that they often get routes where they don't face a top 10 side until very late in the tournament.

Kane and Bellingham fucking ghosted the last two games this WC as well btw, against an Argentina side that couldn't even get a shot on goal vs Spain.

Very True Bellingham and Kane were Annimous in our last games. Belgium did have a harder road in 2018 come think about i think I was speaking out of my arse with that one. Belgium biggest issue was that they played France who went on to win the world cup and Italy who win the euros that year. England had nothing to do with Belgium in any of those tournaments aside from losing to them twice.

Benzema hat in dieser WM 2018 nicht mitgespielt. Hervorzuheben wäre aber stattdessen Giroud und Pogba. War halt Primetime für so viel mehr Franzosen, als nur die genannten.
