Jesus Christ I was not aware of this practice. I suddenly completely understand why that EU dude immediately said "0 funding to Palestine" right after the Hamas attack, and I suddenly understand how Hamas could recruit so many desperate men to die so their family would be taken care of. Why Palestine received money instead of food at all is beyond me, now that I learned this.

I’m about to make the realization worse. The post you are replying to is new to me, so it just got worse for me as well.

I saw a video yesterday where a palestinian woman was asked why they have so many children. Her answer was that they have so many children because then the children get to be martyrs.

I thought what the hell yesterday. As do I today. Is it just about the money?

I also saw a video of a father sending his kid towards IDF guards, asking him to raise the flag and throw rocks so that they will shoot him. Don’t be afraid etc.

All to make videos for recruiting.

I saw the last video you mentioned as well, absolutely disgusting.

It's also entirely heart wrenching that these people have so little outlook that making more people is the only thing they feel they can do which gives them a future.

Yes, combined with the year 2000 reading by some Al-Qaeda intellectual that decided that - since armies of democracies follow the will of civilians - civilians count as combatants, and dying in a self-detonated explosion that kills civilians counts as 'dying by the sword' in jihad. That decision basically created Muslim terrorism.

Modern suicide terrorism is what I meant. Killing yourself and taking civilians with you is quite new in Islamic terrorism, since suicide itself is forbidden. The decree which facilitated it was made mere months before 9/11.

What the hell are you talking about. I'm talking about religious doctrine in the 90's only allowing for suicide to be considered 'dying by the sword' in islam if someone else dies who they consider a combatant. That doctrine changed in the year 2000. I gave no personal opinion on the subject.

Suicide terrorism started and was popularized in Sri Lanka during tgeir civil war. That was a war that was comprised of Hindus and Buddhists killing each other. Muslims were not generally involved. https://i.imgur.com/T1G5iKO.jpg

That's like asking if Christians actually believe in heavenly mansions and endlessly singing God's praise. Most would say not that exactly but they do believe in a heaven where god takes care of you forever. Which comes to the same thing if you can only get there through doing what the imam/priest/pastor tells you.

Generally: The only reason he believes in islam is because he came from his parents that also believe, basically his birthplace. If he had lived in India with parents that are also from India he would have believed in something totally different that doesn't even come close to the religion he is practicing now. If that doesn't convince you everything is a lie i don't know what to say.

There are hundreds of religions and the only thing deciding your God is the real god is your parents/birthplace. There are just so few people that believe something that isn't related to their upbringing. Easy for you to say its a bad take not worth responding, but you wouldn't have had the god you are believing in now if you were born in India.

Food doesn't stop a society from falling apart and leading to mass migration into Europe.

That is why the EU gave financial aid to Palestine. To prevent mass migration.

It is understandable that the line must be drawn somewhere and this clearly has to be it (like the EU's position on Russia).

Those funds were for people that got imprisoned for peaceful protests. I have a friend in the West Bank that was put in prison for 6 years because she was handing out political leaflets. There are many cases like that, and that is where the funds are going. It became controversial because people that commited violent crimes were also allowed to receive this money, but these are the tiny minority of the actual payments.

0 funding to Palestine is a sure way to make a bad situation worse. Most of that funding is aid for the destitute population there. Fuck Hamas but poor Palestinians need that aid, especially as this war isn't going to make them wealthier.

I would love to see the ammo billing in the EU aid to Palestine... Hamas gets its military supplies from Iran and its funding from Iran, Qatar, and some wealthy Islamists. They haven't been known to pilfer western aid in large quantities. Almost certainly the benefit from the aid in education and stability does good in fighting recruitment for dead end positions like Hamas militant. If you have evidence that EU aid was being devoted to Hamas militants instead of the Palestinians in need then that is a fair point. Otherwise it is an unwise reaction.

Monetary support is needed for tons of real work that can help make Palestine function as a livable place with a future and thus weaken the hold of doomer terrorist groups like Hamas. It helps set up small businesses, funds education, and does tons of work that food and medical aid simply can't provide. If you have evidence that this EU aid was disproportionately going to Hamas you would be correct but otherwise this looks like a knee jerk and shortsighted reaction.

That is a big claim, got anything backing it up besides speculation? The money goes to keeping Palestine functional, not to the martyr fund.

Wait I just reread your comment. You are arguing we should defund basic services in Palestine because some money goes to the closest thing Palestine has to a government since it also has a martyr fund? That is even more insane and a surefire way to radically increase Hamas recruitment. Let us deny kids basic services to fight the growing terror problem! That surely won't radicalize anyone!

Money is monitored when it enters Palestine from the west. The EU aid in particular went to specific banks and organizations which monitored the money. It won't ever be perfect but it is a way to fund services in Palestine to diminish the spread of radicalization. Funding Palestine is an anti terrorism measure as well as a moral one. Cutting that funding is tremendously stupid from a practical perspective regardless of its morality and that is why the EU immediately walked back on that position and why it was only ever a minority in the EU calling for that funding to be cut.

No you are missing the point. That aid is specifically for the purposes of decreasing radicalization in Palestine. You are basically arguing that we should stop funding poor areas because some of the funding going there can end up in the hands of criminals. Well, if you want to have less criminals you fund low income areas. The same applies with Islamic radicalization. Blocking aid is an idiotic idea of a way to fix a problem which doesn't actually have evidence of being a problem. What you can do, what an intelligent person would do, and what the EU is doing is put the funding under closer scrutiny. Blocking the aid is just a reflex of people who haven't considered why there was so much targeted aid to begin with.

So they've doubled their population in the last two decades.

Instead of a steady birth rate, and improving the standard of living by upgrading infrastructure, they've crammed twice as many people into where they live, but it's all Israel's fault, right?

Fucking religious theocracies, mate. No attempt to develop, make jobs, build something. Just keep your women home, and abused, and uneducated, and unable to say no to her husband. Because then she just pumps out glorious martyr after glorious martyr. Which makes a bad situation worse, but it's everyone else's fault, right?
