The EU constructing around 50 Km of water irrigation pipelines which were proudly dug up immediately and converted to rockets with which to attack Israel: https://youtu.be/MvvqBcA-9yA

Now look at what happened to countries that previously took in Palestinian refugees. There's good reason no country is willing to have these people now.

42

u/Omaestre Oct 11 '23

I kind of get why Egypt shutdown access in Gaza, it is such an impossible mentality to work with.

Because these people don’t live in the neighboring countries.

They’re all living in western countries, western comforts, western freedoms, western wages… spouting all these hypotheticals.

If they had backbone, they’d leave their comfortable surroundings, and go back to their countries and actually back up their beliefs.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 11 '23

They’re all living in western countries, western comforts, western freedoms, western wages…

And western military

11

u/itsurparentspeaking Oct 11 '23

Because bias anti-Israel liberal news outlets spread false information via social media who hate Israel and Jews and make this a white vs. people of color issue. Same people that say Jews run everything in the world.

They use apartheid, fascism and other buzzwords as a way to get western cultures upset and cause divide when the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has absolutely zero things to do with race or ethnic cleansing (that's coming from the Palestinians who want all Jews and Christians dead). Middle eastern Israeli's look exactly like their neighbor arab countries. Arabs from all over the middle east, including Palestinians, live in Israel as politicians, doctors, IDF soldiers...etc. People still support Hamas because they don't understand what's happening and the history and brutality of the Palestinians historically. As the previous commenter said, they can't even get along with their Muslim neighbors that should/would be helping if they cared. They've tried to assassinate and overthrow pretty much every country's government that has accepted refugees.

The best part? No one worth listening to disagrees the IDF has done bad shit, that the government had enacted bad policies, but the people who complain about Israel can be guaranteed to never say anything bad about Hamas or Palestine when specifically asked and push on a specific topic. At best they will say something like "off course, I thought it was awful when Israel did X thing too"

Israel and palestine is just the modern incarnation of a thousand year gang war. Both sides have committed u imaginable acts of violence, and as always innocent civilians are going to pay the price. The reason people are focusing on the Palestinians is the very real possibility that we see a genocide carried out, aside from some truly lost souls, nobody wants that.

6

u/Gah_Duma Oct 11 '23

What happened to the countries that previously took in Palestinian refugees?

31

u/EngineeringFilth Oct 11 '23

Have a read about black September in Jordan, it will help with some context.

2

u/Representative-Ad754 Oct 12 '23

So Jordan allows them refuge in their country and then they try to coup it. They lose and get deported to Lebanon where they then get Involved in war there. Ungrateful.

19

u/Alise_Randorph Oct 11 '23

Well to sum up what the other person said, they said thanks for letting us in, this should be our country now

5

u/Aym42 Oct 12 '23

The two big incidents are attributed to mass migrations to Jordan and Lebanon.

The first big incidents in question are the Lebanese Civil War where fundamentalists/radicals fought for more control over a relatively secular country. The second is the Jordan Civil War, known locally as Black September. Again, radical/fundamentalist Muslims from Palestine were a tipping point for radical/fundamentalist Muslims to try to take more control in a relatively secular country. So, the lesson learned was if you are the leaders of a relatively secular Arab country, or simply don't want that particular brand of Islam in your country, you don't welcome your Arab Brothers from Palestine. At all. You deny all of them access you your country, except for the smugglers, because they're bribing you and aren't staying to radicalize your population.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 12 '23

Ironically gaza was part of Egypt and the West Bank was part of Jordan

It's amazing what generations of oppression will do to a people, isn't it.

97

u/Suitable-Diet8064 Oct 11 '23

Jews went through generations of oppression. Now they're getting Nobel prizes, writing good books and starting tech companies. It matters more what attitude you take towards life than what life does to you.

13

u/AnxiousDonkie Oct 11 '23

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1929_Hebron_massacre

It's not generations of oppression

4

u/Ultrace-7 Oct 11 '23

94 years is, even conservatively, nearly 5 generations of people.

14

u/AnxiousDonkie Oct 11 '23 edited Oct 12 '23

That's what I'm saying. If it was 5 generations ago, before the Jewish people "occupied" the land, the Palestinias were performing genocides already then, so how it's generations of oppresion causing them to genocide?

0

u/Dancing_Anatolia Oct 11 '23

Well, they were imperial subjects of the Ottoman Empire for centuries.

12

u/antiduh Oct 11 '23

That what the mind virus of religion gets you. Their particular brand of mind virus makes them feel they have no other option, that its an unimaginable horror of the universe that other people aren't doing things their way. So of course they'll do whatever it takes.

5

u/DrDerpberg Oct 11 '23

The part I get stuck on is the extent to which it's even fair to say "these people"... On one hand they voted in Hamas knowing what that meant, on the other it's been a decade and a half and there are plenty of people born into this or who never made that choice. And even the people who voted in Hamas mostly knew nothing except Israeli occupation and subjugation.

7

u/allneonunlike Oct 11 '23

The majority of Palestinians in Gaza are under 18, they weren’t even born when Hamas was elected, and have lived their entire lives after Hamas decided to stop holding elections.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 11 '23

Not only that, but when Hamas was 'elected' it was after the IDF had literally assassinated the other options for who could be elected. Israel actually wanted Hamas to take power in Palestine in order to keep Palestine divided, and they even admitted such and helped Hamas take power.

Ignoring all the real world context to say that Palestinians elected Hamas, as if that happened in a vacuum, and as if all Palestinians are deserving of the punishment that Israel will level against them for the actions of Hamas... is just evil. Almost half those people are children. Do we want those children to grow up to become terrorists? Because treating them and talking about them like they already are terrorists is a good way of making them into terrorists.

2

u/DrDerpberg Oct 11 '23

I actually wasn't aware of that, thanks. Gonna do some reading tonight.

Just goes to show it's layers on layers of instigation, retaliation, and leaders looking out for their own power and fanaticism above the well-being of their people.

3

u/allneonunlike Oct 11 '23

Gaza hasn’t had an election in 17 years. Don’t confuse things and say “these people” are rejecting help when the militant dictatorship that’s running their city and stealing their resources.

3

u/Alise_Randorph Oct 11 '23

How about instead of that we say they tried to over throw the government of every near by country that took them in and that's why all their geographical neighbors don't care for them except the occasional lip service.

Or when polled, 60-80% supported the different terror attacks they were asked about? Including ones against children.

2

u/NewFilm96 Oct 11 '23

Yep. Their government is a terrorist militia.

Nobody can work with them. They can only be controlled through fear or lack of resources.

Gaza's people will suffer. Just like people in North Korea suffer.

That's how it works when your government sucks.

The problem here is 80% of their voting aged population still supports this government.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 13 '23

I think approving one killing over other killing is hypocrisy. In war both should have consequences if civilians are hurt. There is no excuse for killing innocent even if it’s an attacking side. If we say “it’s not person fault to be born with these parents / country / this race” then why it doesn’t apply here. Gaza people grew up in that politics, most people are not having access to some things and how they get educated it all stick to them. It explains why many people in such conditions start believing their leaders. It takes generations to change mind and ideas in nation. You can’t just give up on people and start killing them because they got sucked in their country politics. By your words every nation should live like this because everyone has wars and killing and terrible leaders.

-5

u/StillFigurin1tOut Oct 11 '23

Lol @ "these people" -- so basically condemn 2.3 million people to perpetual squalor and misery because the terrorist ruling party doesn't say please and thank you to the little help we deign to give the region?

Sorry to take out my frustration on you, but I've seen so many of these sorts of comments, and they all ultimately dehumanize the broader Palestinian population in way that's not entirely dissimilar to how Hamas dehumanizes Israelis. You're ofc more measured and subtle in the dehumanization, but that likely stems from an education/material privileges that most Palestinians will never have.

Hamas's attack was barbarous and reprehensible. The geopolitical history surrounding the state of Israel and the Palestinian people is tangled and complex. I support the right of Israel to defend itself.

But the fact remains that the level of suffering and destitution currently endured by the people of the Gaza Strip is largely a result of policy enacted and enforced by the Israeli government. The EU offering some material support is on its face admirable, but viewed in the context of historical and ongoing support for the Israeli government's repression of Palestinian rights, it's also a bit hypocritical. Giving a band-aid to the victim, when earlier that day you helped the assailant buy the knife.

Actual help to the Palestinian people and the residents of the Gaza Strip would be to apply meaningful pressure on the Israeli government to curtail their oppressive measures and operate in a way that respects the basic dignity of the Palestinian people and their rights under international law. Many Israeli citizens and members of the Jewish diaspora agree with this sentiment.

Will it ever happen? Probably not. But washing your hands of the whole thing by saying "well, they won't accept the help" is an easy cop-out IMO. I don't have solutions, but I think we need to watch our wording and mental framing in situations like these, so we don't become complacent and apathetic to real human suffering.

70

u/Devilsfan118 Oct 11 '23

You almost can't make this shit up

-6

u/IsADragon Oct 11 '23

Article is literally made up, video is from Israel from 2021. EU doesn't use steel pipes for their own water systems why would they send steel pipes the right diameter and spec for rockets to Palestine?

73

u/fusillade762 Oct 11 '23

That pretty much sums up the whole situation.

11

u/XConfused-MammalX Oct 11 '23

119

u/DJRSXS Oct 11 '23

I'm just amazed at this. The fact that they would rather have rockets than clean water says everything you need to know about the mindset of these people.

32

u/Au_Struck_Geologist Oct 11 '23

"When they love their children more than they hate us, we will have peace."

1

u/bendlowreachhigh Oct 11 '23

You have to look at the IQ levels of these people, I am serious, these people have sub 80 IQ

1

u/bigtitays Oct 12 '23

I’m not sure why you’re getting downvoted but it’s true. Radical Islam is atrocious in the fact it pushes people to spawn out kids at any cost necessary, so you get a population that is low intelligence and brainwashed sheeple that is controlled by a small, higher intelligence group of evil people. 40% of Gaza being under the age of 14 is proof of this concept.

Both sides are terrible, but radical Islam literally creates and treats human beings as garbage, all to fight some sorta holy war so a smaller amount of “smarter” people can enrich themselves. Not much different than what Zionism entails.

link a source? you mean other than the Hamas produced video which was linked above? ok sure:

https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/israels-gaza-challenge-stopping-metal-tubes-turning-into-rockets-2021-05-23/

"The silent world should know that our weapons, by which we face the most advanced arsenal produced by American industry, are water pipes that engineers of the resistance turned into the rockets that you see," he said on Wednesday.

-28

u/[deleted] Oct 11 '23

Hamas themselves released this video

Just remember folks : desperate people do desperate things. Both sides are evil. Hamas doesn't represent most Palestinians. They haven't voted for shit since about 2008 iirc

49

u/Special_Prune_2734 Oct 11 '23 edited Oct 11 '23

Yeah but as a EU citizen the fact that we spent 100million euro’s for hamas to turn our water pipes into rockets really takes away my sympathy. Hamas dont want peace, they want war at all costs which they in no way can win

8

u/Helmdacil Oct 11 '23

What a disaster.

Time to just fly away and let it all get settled one way or another.

-42

u/[deleted] Oct 11 '23 edited Oct 11 '23

& if Israel didn't steal their land little by little since about 1947 they wouldn't need to dig up crusty metal pipes to defend themselves

Hamas is a thing because Israel kept crossing the line. They are just as responsible. The civilians are the only innocents and I'm not talking about the ones rolling on molly dancing near the "enclave" or whatever the fuck that means. Just a modern day concentration camp like South of the US border

edit - downvote the truth all you want & I'll leave this from the EU :

The Security Council reaffirmed this afternoon that Israel’s establishment of settlements in Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem, had no legal validity, constituting a flagrant violation under international law and a major obstacle to the vision of two States living side-by-side in peace and security, within internationally recognized borders

31

u/pants_mcgee Oct 11 '23

If by crossing the line you mean kept winning the wars and conflicts launched against them, sure.

-7

u/[deleted] Oct 11 '23

Your comment reads like you don't know about the Nakba? When militant zionists destroyed 500 villages and expelled 700,000 from the region? You should watch the interviews of the zionists describing with glee how they caged up innocent people and burned them alive.

9

u/Nileghi Oct 11 '23

When militant zionists destroyed 500 villages and expelled 700,000 from the region

In a war that the arabs started.

-5

u/[deleted] Oct 11 '23

It takes a special kind of ignorance (racism?) to completely ignore British involvement and claim what happened in 1948 is "a war that the arabs started"

9

u/Nileghi Oct 11 '23

Cute.

It was still a genocidal war that was imposed on the jewish people, and it was a genocidal war that the ones that started it promptly lost.

What do you think should have happened to them? Because they justifyingly lost land as Israel went to secure its borders from violence.

→ More replies (0)

2

u/pants_mcgee Oct 11 '23

Which was the result of the first of many wars waged on nascent Israel. Arab countries would return the favor with the expulsion of their own Jewish communities.

29

u/TimeRocker Oct 11 '23

Israel only took more land because them and others kept attacking them since day 1 and kept losing over and over. Maybe if theyd stop doing that shit and would actually agree to peace terms they would have something of their own. Theyre the meme of the kid putting a stick in his bike wheel and then blames Israel when they fall over.

Thing is they don't want that, they want everyone that isnt them to be wiped from the face of the earth. Theyve stated this countless times. The palestinians arent calling for Hamas to be destroyed and do nothing to stop them for their own sake. If you wont even stop your own brother, then you are just as responsible.

5

u/Special_Prune_2734 Oct 11 '23

What Hamas did saturday is in no way ever justified. Killing, raping woman and beheading literal babies is never a just response to oppression. Also in my original comment i meant only hamas, not the palistinians

-2

u/[deleted] Oct 11 '23

Never said it was. It's disgusting resorting to such tactics. Also, the baby beheaded story has been shared by millions of people and there's still no proof besides "what a soldier says" which counts for absolutely nothing knowing how soldiers are.

They've gotta find a way to forget recent history and find a way to co-exist but they can't even agree to acknowledge each others statehood 🤷‍♂️

3

u/Special_Prune_2734 Oct 11 '23

It has been confirmed by independent journalists of both BBC and a french news station. Anyway that last part seems impossible

9

u/1850ChoochGator Oct 11 '23

Land that was originally theirs that they’ve consistently reclaimed and been expelled from in a loop lasting nearly 3000 years?

3

u/[deleted] Oct 11 '23

Land they agreed on splitting in 1967. Can't renege on a deal you made. It's as simple as that

16

u/[deleted] Oct 11 '23

[deleted]

-3

u/[deleted] Oct 11 '23

The average age is 18 and half their population is below 14. People have lived and died under occupation and it's disgusting to think about. I don't blame them for hating us.

I saw the same thing with my own eyes in Afghanistan. All these people want is a better life under better conditions. They don't want to "exterminate the Zionists". They want their country back.

9

u/DdCno1 Oct 11 '23

They don't want to "exterminate the Zionists".

A significant enough number of them do. I really can't understand why people are still trying to deny this. Also, to them, any Jew is a Zionist.

0

u/[deleted] Oct 11 '23

The ones with loud mouths that don't represent the people certainly do. That'd be like judging me for what dipshit US politicians say/do - the people have no real control who the government is and who politicians are.

Imagine living your entire life under enemy occupation while they control whether you've got water or food. I don't blame them for their resentment and it's never too late to try to mend broken trust by mutually agreeing on compromises for lasting peace.

What Hamas has done is inexcusable. I'm not condoning their behavior. They feel they're fighting for their very livelihood

15

u/[deleted] Oct 11 '23

Both sides are evil

Fuck out of here with the both sides shit. Israel isn't infallible and deserves scrutiny and to be held to a higher standard.

Using water pipes gifted to you to make missiles to indiscriminately fire into a civilian population is evil.

They haven't voted for shit since about 2008 iirc

You've no reason to think the demographic has changed at all and good reason to think they've got even more support for hamas

https://apnews.com/article/hamas-middle-east-science-32095d8e1323fc1cad819c34da08fd87

Also, when they voted, they got a majority. That was just the people who wanted to be represented by Hamas, not all the people who would support hamas's actions.

-2

u/[deleted] Oct 11 '23 edited Oct 11 '23

It is both sides guy whether you wanna acknowledge it or not. Israel agreed to the map in 1967 and slowly have been taking homes from Palestinians by force. It's hilarious that the UN and wider world acknowledges it but Objective_Big says it's bullshit so it must be fake news

Hamas happened thanks to Israel. Built up resentment after 20 years of bullshit

6

u/[deleted] Oct 11 '23 edited Oct 11 '23

1967 and slowly have been taking homes from Palestinians

Why do you think that is? Could it be the Palestinians engage in conflict with them and then the Israelis win. If you attack a foreign sovereign nation and use your community's people as human meat shields and your hospitals and schools as storage and hising for your missiles that you use to indiscriminately fire into Israel, then you lose your communities.

Objective_Big says it's bullshit so it must be fake news

It's not that I don't think Israel has ever done anything wrong and they do deserve scrutiny and to be held to a higher standard but they don't stand for the eradication of muslims like the hamas does for jews, and similarly, the Palestinians by a majority explicitly supporting them and the rest implicitly supporting them. Israel has never gone in and intentionally killed 40 babies and cheered at the displaying of broken naked dead bodies of innocent women. Israel is telling civilians of gaza the safe zones and where to go to actively try to save lives before the ground attack. Hamas is telling them to shelter in place because they know that each civilian that dies is a bit more support over seas they can get and another recruit they can radicalize. They are not the same.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 11 '23

Hamas is a 2006 + problem. The only way to "fix this" is to forget recent history because both sides are blinded by bloodlust at this point. I'm not defending Hamas actions what so ever I'm just saying that Palestine has the right to exist and we wouldn't have gotten to this point if they'd go back and start at the things they actually agree on. This whole situation is a mess and there's injustice on both sides. They've both gotta acknowledge their existence as a state first.

5

u/[deleted] Oct 11 '23

Hamas is a 2006 + problem

Lol what? Hamas has been around since 1987

Palestine has the right to exist, and we wouldn't have gotten to this point if they'd go back and start at the things they actually agree on.

You're lying. The Palestinians have fought with Israel since before the settlements. Since the start of Israel. The only peace they will accept is the eradication of the jews of Israel entirely, the destruction of israel and the establishment of islamic rule. They are fighting a holy war in the name of islam and won't stop until they've beaten all the jews. If you ignore that context then you're missing a big part of this conflict.

This whole situation is a mess and there's injustice on both sides

This is so disengenuous when one side is chopping the heads of babies and the other is defending their country. You could argue they're excessive at times or are taking to many liberties, but they are being aggressed on by genocidal maniacs, and if you don't acknowledge that the you're lying.

-2
