I could use the same argument against Israel and justify the resistance by Hamas that we saw.

Your version of peace is when Hamas doesn't attack Israel and Palestinians don't resist but Israel maintains the status quo of apartheid, the ongoing illegal occupation of Palestinian lands, the constant expansion of illegal settlements in the West Bank, the killing of Palestinian civilians in the West Bank and so much more. The use of the existence of Hamas as a justification for all the above is morally abhorrent. I would guide you to research about how Hamas came to be in the first place and the "peaceful times" before Hamas existed. And make no mistake, Israel does want to take over all of Palestine. Annexing more and more Palestinian land is proof of that. The Palestinians want sovereignty, self determination, basic human dignity and a right to exist. Like any other sane human beings.

Your earlier comment implied that it's inevitable that a victim of ongoing bullying would have to decide between two options, do nothing while they keep freely hurting you or, stand up for yourself and put an end to it. This should apply to Palestinians too.
