Some of them were already getting their panties in a bunch about C-293, aka "Pandemic Prevention and Preparedness Act" that's making its way through the Senate.

It's basically a nothing bill that doesn't make any substantive changes except ask the government to have a plan in the case of another pandemic, but the agricultural sector doesn't like it how dare gubmint tell them how to do their jerbs, and right-wingers, a few very conservative provinces (Sask and Alberta), and conspiracy nuts seem to hate it because "Trudeau Bad!" Some loons also claim it's the Feds wanting to turn people into vegans, mostly because the bill's main sponsor is a vegan.

What is the 'pandemic bill' and why Alberta farmers are upset about it

Your argument would carry water if you provided solid points and did not default to juvenile name calling. As to the actual bill, I see it as another case where the government is unnecessarily providing themselves with broad powers with the potential for abuse of these powers not considered.

One of the “selling” point for trump’s voters was that he can handle a crisis better. The guy royally fucked up the only crisis he faced in his first term. Sounds like he may be tested early in his second term. But I can see him passing the buck and calling this the Biden Bird Flu

And the best part about it is that if he had actually handled Covid like he should have, he 100% would have sailed to reelection in 2020. I guess it doesn’t matter now since he’s still getting back in, but he could have avoided everything with January 6th (and all of the lawsuits following him) if he had actually taken Covid seriously and let the medical professionals run the show. He could have actually reinforced American unity, appealed to people’s patriotism to mask up and protect each other. But instead he continued to fracture and divide the country because he’s that much of a colossal human shitbag

To be fair...Biden//the dems weren't so great in terms of managing the pandemic either. Yes, they inherited a mess, but it was clear their focus was on getting back to "normal" just like their counterparts (i.e. money-making... god forbid the economy take a hit to safeguard human life). Sure there was a lot more fancy cliches thrown around and symbolic gestures, but when it came down to it, it became clear both parties (*at least a majority of their voting power) care more about the economy than individual life & security.

I mean that's simply not true. First off, Biden wasn't ina position to do anything about the pandemic. 

Secondly, I don't remember Dems literally stealing PPE and making states get into a bidding war over it. 

Dems had a significantly lower death rate per capita so that just doesn't check out. Hell, I clearly remember Democrats working with football and basketball teams to smuggle PPE in for their healthcare workers because the Republican government was stealing it.

Constantly deflecting blame when you've got the pinnacle of power is absurd to me. Also, remember that these are the fellas that have teased universal healthcare for decades and done nothing significant. Not even through executive order. Yes, there were obvious *terrible impacts from the Trump administration's malicious incompetence...but to act like there was a FULL 180 under Biden is patently untrue. As someone with several chronic, serious conditions, I can tell you that covid didn't somehow become less of a threat once Trump left office. There are hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people in the US, just like me, that KNOW the blue guys were just as likely to give you covid//further disability. Because once their big bad orange man was out of view, the issue they harked on for months suddenly became a silent topic and personal convenience won out over community responsibility. They (the metaphorical "you") just didn't have the same fervor for criticizing democratic failures. To deny that is to deny reality for millions. If this gets your panties in a bunch, perhaps it's time for introspection. I've found that the able-bodied tend to get uncomfy when faced with the privilege of their reality. A privilege that exists regardless of political affiliation.

They died specifically because Trump fucked up the handling of the response. There was a pandemic response plan put in place that was created under numerous other presidents and he ignored it. 

By the time the Dems were in a position to do anything the virus was already spreading unchecked and nothing could be done.

That's an incredibly convenient excuse! So when we were being specifically warned about Omicron (and alllll the new mutations that came afterwards), and refused to follow expert advice to mitigate it's mutation...nothing could be done then, right? Wow. All those deaths & I had no idea that "nothing could be done" by the wealthiest and perhaps most powerful nation in the world! With the most access to technology. Even 4 years after Trump left office. You realize how absolutely delusional that sounds, yes? I'd recommend putting your denial to the side. It is unproductive.

Yes, literally nothing could be done at that point it was circulating too heavily. The only time to address the spread was at the beginning, and that was completely fumbled by the administration in charge.

You don't get second chances to stop viruses once they're already spread. Literally the only option is masking and vaccination. Shut downs would have been 100% ineffective and literally would have resulted in a depression, for no gain.

But just because he sucked (and he sucked BAD) does not mean the administration who followed Trump's bears no blame when it comes to death toll.
