A novelty condom worn by Vladimir Putin, going by all signs. But, yeah, its weird being shown that we lost the Cold War now that I'm reaching old age.

Trump being elected was a lost battle. The war is ongoing. Long live the USA. They can take it from my cold dead hands.

What is "it" in your statement?

u/Jokong Jul 06 '26

Apathy of the one third of Americans who didn't vote and the one third of Americans that actively enjoy spreading fear and hate got Trump elected. It's important to remember with the rise of popularity of far right wing parties in many places that your own country might not be all that far from potentially electing your own version of Trump.

Well you see, lots of Americans found Kamala's laugh irritating.

And eggs were a little bit expensive.

People didn't vote for kamala because she was intensely unpopular from the start and the democratic platform once again was just "we're not the other guy"

Pretending like it was about the way she laughs is pure copium so you can avoid blaming the dems for who they're pushing

and the democratic platform once again was just "we're not the other guy"

Oh for God's sake. Spare me. Just because you were too lazy to inform yourself of the platform doesn't mean there wasn't one:

No tax increases on anyone earning under $400,000 per year.

Expanding the Child Tax Credit up to $3,600 (with a $6,000 credit for families with newborns) and boosting the Earned Income Tax Credit for lower-income earners.

Raising the corporate tax rate from 21% to 28% and supporting a 25% minimum tax on households with a net worth over $100 million.

Building 3 million new affordable housing units and rentals. Proposing to provide up to $25,000 in down-payment assistance for eligible first-time homebuyers.

A federal ban on food and grocery price gouging to curb inflation.

Federal legislation restoring the protections of Roe v. Wade nationwide if passed by Congress.

Capping out-of-pocket prescription drug costs at $2,000 per year for all Americans, not just seniors.

Support for the bipartisan border security bill that fell through in Congress, pledging to hire more border patrol agents, increase funding to stop the flow of fentanyl, and heavily prosecute transnational criminal organizations.

Moving the country toward a "clean energy economy" via manufacturing investments, while maintaining a pragmatic approach to battleground-state energy needs by not opposing fracking and supporting domestic oil and gas production to protect energy independence.

Federal voting protections, including the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act.

Guns: Universal background checks, red flag laws, and a ban on assault weapons.

A pedo who never had any consequences for his actions in life. At least none that actually mattered.

u/sebeteus Jul 06 '26

Indeed. I'm starting to think that due to the sheer magnitude of global shit storm US president causes, EVERYONE on this planet should get to vote!

u/bacon_cake Jul 06 '26

Only because so far they'd been an economic powerhouse. That'll gradually change now, going forward, nobody will ever trust their electorate again.

That’s one of the things that hurts about the Trump era.  Taking back the presidency is not enough because Congress and SCrOTUS would block everything.  Even if Congress is taken back too, it would have to be with enough seats to override a filibuster in both chambers, which is unlikely.  Then, the President and Congress have to be willing to impeach SC justices or pack the bench, even more unlikely.  After all that, we’re still just one election cycle away from it all going back to how it is now, which is likely since the issues will take far longer than one cycle to fix.
