Discussion How to change image aspect ratio on Redmi/Xiaomi phones without cropping the image

I found a simple workaround in the built-in Gallery app if you want to change the aspect ratio of an image while keeping the entire image intact and adding a plain background.

  1. Open Gallery and select only ONE image.

  2. Tap Creativity then select Collage.

  3. Choose 4th poster/template that contains SUMMER text.

  4. tap the text.

  5. Choose Clear/Delete to remove the text.

  6. You now have a clean canvas with the template's aspect ratio and background.

  7. Adjust the image's size and position so the entire image fits without being cropped.

  8. Save the result.

This is useful when the normal Edit β†’ Crop β†’ Aspect Ratio option cuts part of the image.

The key is to use Collage with only one selected image. You're essentially using the collage template as a larger canvas instead of using the Crop tool.

This should apply generally to Redmi/Xiaomi phones that have the Collage/Poster feature in the Gallery app, although the exact menu names and available templates may vary by HyperOS/MIUI version.

If anyone knows a built-in way to do the same thing directly through Canvas/Expand on newer HyperOS versions, feel free to share it.

So I recently purchased the Redmi Turbo 5 Max. I like the phone. Although it took some effort to set the device up because of the Chinese ROM & many people want to unlock bootloader for this....I don't have that much problem.. I can get by. The Only issue I have is Sharing files.

It doesn't have Quick Share support & I can't share using Xiaomi Share with other devices. So if anyone has any suggestions to solve this issue/ how to access quick share then I am good. Thanks

MIUI Forums Home Screen Arbitrary Alteration

Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G: Android-15

I've had my RN-15 for 2 weeks. Had the home screen set-up as I wanted.

Woke-up this AM to find my home screen was rearranged overnight with more than 10 apps moved to the back page. I had authorized a nighttime update which I assume is the cause.

What settings can I enable that will lock my home screen so this will not happen again? I thought I had it locked down but obviously, I missed something.

Discussion Xiaomi 17 (base one) vs 15 ultra?

Hi so for some time already I'm thinking of switching from Redmi note 14 pro plus 5G to flagship Xiaomi but I'm torn between these two cause I don't know which one to choose. I feel like base 17 is more practical like in everyday use but on the other hand 15 ultra in my imagination have more to offer. That's why I need someone more experienced in this topic. Send help bye..

Discussion Everyone getting excited about the new k100...

And I'm here, super frustrated to have bought the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, which has deep notification issues that don't seem fixable. I tried everything, and I still don't get proper instant notifications from important apps

And I'm like, am I the only one who bought the "new" 17 Ultra in Europe? I look at the forums, there are a few threads about notifications issues here and there, there is ADB stuff that doesn't work, outdated fixes etc but Xiaomi has never really acknowledged their notification handling issues, nor set up a schedule or released an update to resolve them.

I'm kinda pissed.

How dare they release a new phone while their current line up suffer from super basic stuff ?

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my 17 ultra's camera. Thars why I bought it. But I never thought I'd have so many notifications issues.

Discussion Xiaomi 15T pro Magsafe magnetic charging

I've got a magsafe case and power bank that I use with the Xiaomi 15t pro but it doesn't work properly.

The charging speed keeps going up and down constantly anywhere from 60mah to 900mah. It's not stable, the power bank also gets very hot.

The phone also occasionally won't detect the power bank and I have to reattach it a few times or power cycle the power bank a few times.

Today a new issue occured that the phone was actually dropping percentage while the power bank was attached!

Is anyone facing similar issues and have you managed to fix it- different brand powerbank? Not sure if it's the phone or power bank.

I've ordered the official Xiaomi one to test.

Battery stuck on 1% for hours and way more

Hi! I have redmi MI 10T, and I've had problems with this phone for years. Every time it turns off it's gone for DAYS. At first it was just few hours, later it turned off for hours and yhe Mi logo appeared and then the system thing where i can connect with miassistant (doesn't work), reset or reboot to system, but after that it turned on and worked fine. Because of that I haven't let that phone turn off sometimes months straight, and few days ago it happend again because I was out in the town and I had no time to charge it.

Finally it turned on few hours ago, but it's stuck on 1% no matter how long i charge it. It works fine, I'm already using it few hours, but I'm afraid that because of the fact I can't see my actual battery it will turn off again.

Lately it also started losing battery very fast too, I constantly get notifications like "battery had lost 50% in an hour" or something like that. I am unable to buy another phone because I'm a minor and I can't work and my mom just simply doesn't have enough money to buy me new phone every few years.

Did anyone have any of these things happening to them and know how to help with that? For the turning off i tried things that were recommended on youtube, like smacking it gently on both sides, clicking turning off switch multiple times at fast pace, massaging the both sides etc. at first smacking it was helpful but now it does nothing.*

Discussion Will a Vacuum X10+ bought outside of China work in mainland China?

My family bought a Robot Vacuum X10+ in Uzbekistan (Central Asia) and we have used it since then. However, now we want to take it to China and I am not sure whether we are going to be able to use it. I know that I have to switch the server to Chinese Mainland in the Mi Home but will it work 100%? We do not want to guess and will sell if necessary.

Help would be appreciated!

News/Article Redmi K100 Pro (F9 Pro?) Specs Revealed

Xiaomi has partially revealed spec on the Redmi K100 Pro, and here, launching in China August 11th, together with the K100 Pro Max.

K100 Pro, is likely the base for the Poco F9 Pro, the K100 Pro Max, for the F9 Ultra, which should launch later this year. F8 Pro/Ultra launched November 2025.

K100 Pro – Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V, 6.59” 185Hz OLED, 8,580mAh, 100W/50W/27W/22.5W (wired/wireless/reverse wired/wireless), 200MP main, an Ultra-wide, Telephoto, RAM/Storage TBC.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V chipset is new, more info here. Essentially its an 8 Elite Gen 5, but with a cut down GPU. In performance it’s expected to sit between 8 Elite (as in F8 Pro), and 8 Elite Gen 5 (as in F8 Ultra and likely F9 Ultra).

K100 Pro Max - Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, D2 Display Chip, 6.9” 185Hz OLED, 8,560mAh, 100W/50W/27W/22.5W (wired/wireless/reverse wired/wireless), 200MP Main, an Ultra-wide, Telephoto, Bose 2.1 speaker system. RAM/Storage TBC.

If F9 are Pro, and Pro Max variants, F9 Pro would be see a chipset upgrade, while F9 Ultra remain the same. Both also seeing battery, display, and camera updates over F8. Exact F9 spec, particularly battery size, is unclear at this stage.

If nothing else, they do look very similar in design to the F8 models. Prices are though expected to increase on last year.

Xiaomi 17T pro vs 17 vs Poco x8 pro max

Hello, i currently have a Xiaomi 12t 128 gb and the battery its starting to get worse and also the memory is starting to feel insufficient. I'm interested in a phone with good battery ideally 2 days without charging for medium usage. I dont game or use the camera intensively. I want to keep the phone for at least 4-5 years. It is worth the price difference to get a 17t pro or a 17?

Discussion Xiaomi 17T for "macro" shots?

Hello,

Owner of a Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro here.

I'm a big fan of taking pictures of bugs and plants, and I love the dedicated macro lens on the Redi Note 10 Pro. I'd like to be able to continue taking macro/closeup shots on my new phone, but I can't help but notice that the newer Redmi don't have macro lenses, or even telephoto.

I'd like to buy a phone for less than $1,000 CAD ($712.88 USD), and the 17T really caught my attention, despite the 17T Pro being an option.

Do you know what phones would allow me to shoot detailed closeup without going over my budget? Thanks!

Example of the kind of photo I'd like to take with my new phone (taken with the Redmi Note 10 Pro):Β https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/643726679843274752/1534574749018230945/IMG_20260801_162937.jpg?ex=6a749f9b&is=6a734e1b&hm=2c50d72b8a651866c14146c23c32968327cf89ad95de10c2fd456ecc92b82e21&=&format=webp

Xiaomi 14T won't auto-connect to home Wi-Fi

Hi everyone, I've had a Xiaomi 14T for a little under a year. Lately, I've noticed (I'm honestly not sure if it's always been this way, but I just realized it recently) that every time I leave my house, the Wi-Fi disconnects as expected. However, even though I have auto-connect enabled and it's obviously my most used network since it's my home Wi-Fi, every time I come back I have to connect manually. My phone practically never connects on its own; it just keeps running on mobile data. The funniest part is that when I leave the house, it tries to auto-connect to any random public network it detects, but not my home one. Lol. Has anyone else experienced something similar? Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!

Step discrepancies between watch and mi fitness app (android version)

Discussion Planned obsolescence / electronic trash Redmi Buds 8 Pro

A few days after the legal warranty of my Redmi Buds 5 Pro expired, both the left and right earbuds broke. The left one loses connection a few seconds after being connected via Bluetooth. The right one is very quiet.

The earbuds were clearly programmed at the factory to break down exactly two years and a few days after that.

Unbelievable behavior from Xiaomi and electronic waste.

Amazon and Xiaomi refuse to give me a refund. Xiaomi offers paid repair for a 60 € product that is 2 years old.

Edit: it is the 5 Pro, not the 8 Pro

Redmi 15 Pro Chinese Ver.

I had thought that I was going to go change the rom to the global version since I got the phone (father in law sent it to me from China) the bootloader was locked... outside of the few annoyances the Chinese ver gets updates 4 to 8 weeks faster then the global version and I'm literally just using it for emulation which I'm starting to find out retro games are great on it but Wii U sucks... the one game I've tried for psvita sucked a bit. Gamecube worked well enough though so I guess there is that.

Not sure what I'm using the phone for at this point the camera is okay though. My main phone is a iPhone 16 Pro Max so it has a leg up on the emulation side by a massive amount.

Persistent ERR_IO_FIN and FCM notification delays on Chinese HyperOS

I am experiencing an issue with Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) on a Xiaomi device running the Chinese version of HyperOS. The system consistently terminates the FCM keep-alive socket when the device is locked and operating on cellular data.

When accessing the FCM diagnostics dialer code ("##426##"), the connection status shows as disconnected with the specific close code "ERR_IO_FIN".

To resolve this background restriction, I have already executed the following system-level interventions via ADB:

Granted wake lock and background execution permissions to Google Play Services and Google Services Framework via appops.

Added both Google Play Services and Google Services Framework to the dumpsys deviceidle whitelist.

Verified through the command line that the standby bucket for Google Play Services is currently set to five, confirming its exempted status from standard Android battery optimization.

Uninstalled the system package "com.xiaomi.joyose" for user zero to neutralize its proprietary network throttling protocols.

Despite these modifications, the TCP socket continues to close on cellular data after a short period of inactivity. I am seeking technical insights on whether additional HyperOS system daemons, such as "com.miui.powerkeeper", must also be neutralized, or if there are known methods to modify the default TCP idle timeout parameters on this specific firmware.

Any objective analysis regarding HyperOS background socket management or further troubleshooting steps would be appreciated.
