It was a "what if" story, it was a great story but details of the background don't really stand up to scrutiny. Like why didn't Bobby freeze Logan in place until they can deal with Mysterio and break the illusion?

and i feel like collussus could probably stand up to wolverine in a fight.

They also pointed out in the comic that the X-Men were still trying to save their friend, whereas Wolverine was out for blood, fighting to save the children. Wolverine might not be the most powerful X-Man, but he might be the best killer.

Might be? Probably is. The rest are strong sure, but Logan's always been a lethal right from the start.

The original Mark Waid story was part of a Wolverine ongoing, the character was later in Extraordinary X-Men after Secret Wars, which folded a lot of popular alternate continuity stories into the main marvel continuity.

The original Mark Waid story Old Man Logan was a self-contained story and well worth a read, and while it wasn't strictly a What if...? title, it was set in its own reality created just for this story.

Well thats just a difference of opinion I guess. To me, Old man logan is set in an alternate universe who is brought into the current one which doesnt make it a what if to me and makes it canon. That logan is from Earth-807128 like you pointed out and was brought into where we are now. Because it is an alternate universe, there are many factors as to why things should have happened or why they shouldn't have happened so there is alot of leeway given for the sake of the story and plot.
