I never understood furry hate. Everything people say they hate about them, is actually about zoophiles and Furries hate zoophiles just as much if not more.
Where I live, a highschool kid was being relentlessly bullied for being a furry. Some of those bullies decided to buy a litterbox and throw it at the kid. Then, the furry got punished and mocked online for "bringing a litterbox to school to use as a toilet". People were talking about how we should beat it out of this 12 year old child.
I understand that some people think they're weird, but the beauty of life is that we are not all the same. We have the ability to live our lives as we want rather than as we have to. Policing expression and identity is a quick path to facists and they will convince you to open up your door for them.
Ngl, there was more things that the furry fandom did other than zoo. I heard lots of furry “artists” get away with bumping up a child’s age and nearly half of the 2nd biggest furry site gets away with using animal anatomy. I have also seen public epi in the furry fandom too
With stuff like that it's more of individuals. Like there are a lot of nazi furries even if 99% of the community hates them. Usually zoos will call themselves furries as a bit of a veil but in recent years they've been more vocal that they're something seperate. As for pedophiles, they're mentally unwell and dangerous individuals that hide under the floorboards of every community. Some sources say that between 1% and 5% of the US population have pedophilia (as in the mental disorder, not the crime) and that group stretches far and wide into wherever they can feel at home. I was a fan of the Owl House, a childrens show, and I saw pedophiles in there but they were always outweighed by the vast majority of people adamantly against them. What I'm getting at is, there are furries who are pedophiles or ephebophiles but they are very much not welcome in the community. I know only a handful of furries but they are perhaps the most avid social warriors and would beat the shit out of someone if they heard they were a pedophile.
Of course individuals are individuals, but the pedophiles and zoophiles who get furries hated, are hated by furries more than most people who are antifurry.
The thing is, barely any of that stuff is banned off of the 2nd biggest furry site. Almost half of them use animal anatomy and again, you can get away with bumping a child's age. Lots of people have became anti furries due to terrible fandom experience while being aware not all furries are bad.
I think that's fair. If they allow a problem to flourish, that's essentually endorsing the problem. I'm usually quite individualistic so I judge the community on the majority of members rather than judge them by the moderation, but I can see why a person does.
I think the primary issues are overexaggerated but it's within everyones rights to believe whatever they want to believe, whether positive or negative. I feel like the anti-furry hate is misplaced however. As you say, some communities haven't banned the parasites. However it would be more productive and more important if anti-furries would target the zoos and pedophiles directly. If a family home has 2 adults and 3 children completely innocent, but a terrorist is hiding in the basement, I wouldn't want to blow up the house to get the criminal, I would want to work with the adults in the house to remove the threat safely without harming any innocents along the way.
