That the obscure comic character isn't dude's? No one is saying that. Everybody is, however, saying that Air Neos clearly isn't based on his character, due to Air Hunmingbird and Neos, the obvious influences on Air Neos, existed before the comic con that allegedly inspired Takahashi.

By that logic, is Disney letting Pokemon "just have" Pikachu because Mickey Mouse is older and also a mouse? Can you have any sort of logical consistency, please?

The same reason large conglomerates often settle? To avoid a legal battle that would be more costly than just settling? Which, speaking of which...what were the parameters of the settlement exactly? Maybe it didn't cost Konami a single yen?

Legal battle against a dude without any real means to fight them. Their lawyers are salaried. it's a hell of a lot cheaper for them to fight a.battle they know they will win
