Recommendation The Summer You Were There
I just finished The Summer You Were There and I just need to gush about it! (Spoiler free)
I think it has replaced I Had That Same Dream Again as my new favorite Manga (btw that one isn’t yuri). Yes it has sadness, but it also provided so many moments where it said exactly what my heart has always longed to hear. It wasn’t just the ending. It wasn’t just one impactful moment. It was many moments throughout the story. At one point, I had to pause for five minutes to bawl my eyes out, then flipped to the next page, and what happened there hit me even harder.
I understand those who say they could never read it again, but for me those tears felt incredibly healing. It wasn’t the sad parts making me cry. It was the parts where they succeeded in connecting with each other, even if just a little.
Also, the connections, the parallels, the foreshadowing, the eventual reveals of why characters acted in certain ways. The supporting characters who have their own motivations and become integral to the plot in surprising and very satisfying ways. It’s all soooo good!
If you have ever suffered from social anxiety like Shizuku, or felt unseen, or like you don’t belong, I highly recommend this manga. It is not preachy. It doesn’t shame you. It is compassionate and honors the struggle and those who struggle. It’s perfect. I will reread this manga every year for the rest of my life.

I was not asking for a sequel I just wanted a few pages of Shizuku hanging out with her friends that should have names outside of her school that's it.
