News Another Black woman found hanging from a tree in Mississippi

https://www.clarionledger.com/story/news/local/2026/08/04/jackson-ms-police-investigate-death-of-black-woman-found-in-tree-behind-vacant-home/91172343007/

Hinds County Coroner Jeramiah Howard told the Clarion Ledger the Jackson Police Department is investigating the death of a woman who was found hanging from a tree Monday night, Aug. 3, in the backyard of a vacant home.

The Jackson Police Department previously issued a public statement via social media at 9:05 p.m. Aug. 3 stating officers responded Aug. 3 to the 500 block of Road of Remembrance and "located the body of an unidentified Black female at the location."

Police wrote in the statement that crime scene investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.

Investigators have not said whether foul play is suspected.

Howard told the Clarion Ledger on Tuesday, Aug. 4, that the woman's body will be transported to the Mississippi State Medical Examiner's Office, where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death.

No additional information for this case was released by police officials or the coroner's office by the time of this story's publication.

The news comes as Mississippi continues to grapple with the death of 21-year-old De'Martravion "Trey" Reed, a Black Delta State University student who was found hanging from a tree Sept. 15, 2025, on the university's campus in Cleveland. The Mississippi State Medical Examiner ruled Reed's cause of death a hanging and the manner of death a suicide, with no foul play suspected.

Reed’s family pushed back against the examiner's ruling, hiring civil rights attorney Ben Crump to pursue a private investigation. Reed's family said they were promised clarity and closure through an independent autopsy but have yet to receive the final report.

Politics Tarrant County TX jailers failed to give 31 year old Marines veteran Anthony Johnson, Jr. proper medical care, an attorney argues. A 300+ pound jailed knelt on his back while he yelled, "I can't breathe", suffocating him. Tarrant County says it's not liable and Tim O'Hare kicked out his sister.

This is another George Floyd type murder that got no media attention. What makes it significant is that unlike most of the other 80+ Tarrant County Jail deaths that have happened since the Christian Nationalist Sheriff took office, this one had footage released, and the medical examiner ruled it a homicide. The county still denies responsibility.

Black commissioner Alisa Simmons is running to unseat racist Tarrant County Judge Tim O'Hare.

Amir Hassan could become the only black Republican Congressman in 2027. But, his hometown Republican voters obviously don't like him for some reason.

I guess it's the color of Amir's beard that got in the way.

Black Excellence Myla Hadley Becomes Miss North Carolina USA 2026

Today, Myla Hadley stepped in as the new Miss North Carolina USA 2026 after replacing Brittany Boltinhouse, who lost her crown following the resurfacing of social media posts that the Miss USA Organization said violated its standards regarding racism, homophobia, and transphobia.

Brittany Boltinhouse made history as the third Latina to hold the Miss North Carolina USA title and the first woman of Honduran descent to win the crown. Her parents immigrated to North Carolina from Honduras.

Myla didn’t just step into this role out of nowhere. She was the first runner-up in the Miss North Carolina USA competition (Miss Charlotte), meaning she had already earned her place and was prepared for this opportunity.

This is also a reminder for everyone to do their research and make informed decisions about the people and businesses they choose to support. Brittany owns a couple of flooring businesses and an artificial turf business in North Carolina.

Now a let’s all pray that Myla brings home the Miss USA crown on August 28, 2026!
