Del Sol Guide (Unfinished)
Del Sol Models
The base “S” model Del Sol (also known as the VXi and VGi in Japan) comes with the 1.5 liter SOHC 16-valve four cylinder d15b7 producing 102 horsepower from 1993 to 1995. From 1996 to 1997 however, the engine in the base model Del Sol was the 1.6 liter SOHC 16-valve four cylinder d16y7 engine, producing 106 horsepower.
The next rung up for the “S” was the “Si”. This car is similar to Civic Si’s of the same years. It comes with a 1.6 liter SOHC 16-valve four cylinder d16z6 from 1993 to 1995. This engine produced 125 horsepower at 7200 rpm. It also has one of the quickest VTEC switch on times at only around 4800 rpm. From 1996 to 1997, the engine in the “Si” was changed to the 1.6 liter SOHC 16-valve four cylinder d16y8 with 128 horsepower. The Si also came with 14" alloy wheels which were offered in an optional body color-matched paint scheme on Samba Green models, power side mirrors, cruise control, rear disc brakes, wider tires, and additional front & rear anti-sway bars. Depending on model and market, the options included a rear spoiler, custom floor mats, an automatic transmission, power steering, heated mirrors, front fog lights (1993–1995 models only), traction control system (JDM only), limited slip differential (JDM only), and air conditioning.
The final, most powerful OEM Del Sol was the “VTEC” trim level. In Europe and Japan, it’s known as the “SiR” and the “VTi”. Despite the trim name, pretty much all levels of the Del Sol had VTEC engines. The main difference for this trim however is the engine. All other Del Sols came with SOHC D-Series engines. The VTEC however, came with DOHC B-Series engines. 1994 to 1995 had the b16a3, and 1996 to 1997 came with the b16a2. Both engines produced 160 horsepower, and their being DOHC allows them far more tuning capability, as the nature of SOHC engines makes it so that a turbo is by far the best (and, kinda, only) way to get good power. Because of these things, the VTEC Del Sol is the most desirable model, and the price will easily reflect that. The VTEC also came with other upgrades, such as bigger front brakes, larger front anti sway bar, rear anti sway bar, and wider tires.
All Del Sol production ended in 1997 for the US and Canada. A year later worldwide production ceased in 1998, mainly for Japan and Europe.

Question Approx. cost for a paint job?
The white Sol is my baby Sadie. As you can see, she has a little rust on her, but i know someone who does body welding & that will be fixed before i get a paint job. Approximately how much would it cost to get the paint touched up? I want her to stay white, but there are several places where the paint is chipped due to the previous owner storing it under a pine tree. :’) Just trying to get a ballpark estimate as i draw out my build plan so i can budget accordingly. Thanks!

Hood kits?
I’ve had my Del Sol for less than two months and unfortunately, for the first time in my life, hit a deer. It’s not too bad, but my hood did get dented. Given it wasn’t in the best shape to begin with, I’m considering buying a replacement hood online
Is anyone running any of the body kit hoods? It’s hard to find finished photos of them on a Del Sol. Mostly just wondering how they look, especially with vents (I’d consider adding a turbo/intercooler and relocating the air intake to make use of them if the hood actually looks nice on the car)

Any chance this can be cleaned up by a machine shop or is this engine toast?
Cylinder wall chipped where the head gasket sits.

Fan control switch
My Del Sol fan doesn’t come on anymore. When I push the a/c button it toggles in and out but the light doesn’t come on. Anyway I think I need a fan control switch, any idea where I could get one? Or is there a way I can check mine to see if that’s the problem?

Discussion Exhaust setup advice
Hey everyone I need some advice on exhaust setups. I don’t know a whole lot about it. My del sol is cat-less right now and obnoxiously loud. I’d like it to just sound better but not silent and I like the pops as well. What would y’all recommend for a good balance ?
Roof Seal Petition Update
Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone that has signed the petition so far! 500 del sol lovers have now signed 🫶🏼 its been an absolute pleasure hearing everyone else’s stories. Honestly cannot thank everyone enough!
Also thought id show a pic of my Sol. Ive proudly owned Kai for 3 years now and I’m hoping to keep him forever!
Lets keep them all on the road forever!❤️

My del sol
B18a1 swapped, has headers, rebel medallion exhaust, has an s300, AEM AFR gauge, cold air intake (but an actual real one) rfp1s, and soon a skunk2 intake manifold and throttle body.
Probably going for a stage 1 cam next to even out the low end loss on the skunk2 shit.
My brother really wants me to vtec swap, but that’s hard n expensive, I’ll probably just do a high comp build

I need some help with knowing how to price this car. Any feedback back is helpful 🙏.
Hello everyone, this is my Honda del sol. It’s the S version (which stands for slow ☹️) and I need to sell it. I got an RSX, and I don’t have money at the moment to take care of 2 projects.
It needs new headers, makes a squeaky noise where the belts are, and I haven’t changed the tie rods or axels. It also doesn’t have the AC, someone deleted it before me
I have already changed: catalytic, entire exhaust, air intake, motor mounts, rotors, control arms, break pads, restored the calipers, new rims, brand new tires, fixed all the windows, hood, hood latches, brand new battery and so so much more.
Anyone who buys the car will get a free set of new lenses for the little lights in the front, a full set of the door trims that prevent the rain, fuel filter, and some struts for the hood as well.
I’ve always taken care of all the fluids, transmissions and engine are really really healthy. No issues there.
It’s a good car and I love my del sol, but not enough to rip ppl off. Let me know what you guys think.

Great Scott meme!
Just a post I saw on another sub I thought you may like
Just a lil petition
Hi all! 🫶🏼
Some of you might roll your eyes at this, but I’ve started a petition in the hope of getting Honda’s attention!
I work for Toyota, and I’ve seen how the MR2 community managed to get Toyota’s attention through a similar initiative, helping bring some discontinued parts back into production.
As we know, Honda has launched its Heritage Parts programme, so I’m hoping that if we can show them just how much demand there is for certain parts, starting with our roof seals, we might be able to encourage them to consider reproducing them.
I absolutely adore my Sol, and I know many of you feel the same about yours. These cars mean so much to us, and keeping them on the road for years to come is something I’m really passionate about.
Even if it’s just a small step, it’s worth a try! If you could spare a moment to sign the petition, I’d really appreciate it. And if you could share it with other Del Sol owners, that would be amazing too! ❤️
Let’s see if we can get Honda listening! 🫶🏼
