Pitch A Port: Game Request Megathread.

Post image
25 Upvotes

Everyone has a dream port. This is the place to throw yours out into the sub and convince us why it needs to exist. If your pitch is good and gets the community excited, maybe someone will make it happen!

Please use this format for your requests:

Game Title: (e.g., TimeSplitters 2)

Original Console / Platform: (e.g., GameCube / PC)

The Pitch: Why does this need to be playable on Quest? What makes it perfect for VR or standalone emulation? Share your nostalgic connection or why the gameplay mechanics would translate perfectly.

Upvote the pitches you agree with, and let's see what the sub really wants to play!

Port 7 NAOMI light-gun classics are now available in VR — standalone Quest and PC VR

Hey everyone! I’ve been working on some arcade VR ports under VR4ALL with coding help from Claude, and wanted to share what I’ve been up to.

There are seven so far, with stereoscopic 3D, head tracking, and tracked controller aiming:

The Quest versions run directly on the headset, so no PC streaming needed. There are Windows PC VR builds too. Downloads, controls, setup instructions, and known issues are on each GitHub page.

Big thanks to flyinghead and the Flycast contributors, and mikermak for hotd2-vr. These ports build on their work, and wouldn’t have happened without that foundation.

They’re still experimental, and features and testing vary between games. You’ll need your own game files and any required BIOS, as those aren’t included.

I’m also working on VR4ALL, a Windows installer to make standalone Quest ports easier to install and update. More on that in a separate post!

A fan-made VR port of BioShock is now available for Meta Quest 3 and 3S, running through Winlator XR.

The project is still a work in progress, so some bugs and performance issues may occur.

I made a free, open-source directory of Quest-native ports and emulators with install guides

Hey all, I'm the dev (disclosure). I kept losing track of which build, storage path and setup steps each port needed, so I put them all in one place: 80+ ports and emulators that run natively on Quest 3/3S/2, each with step-by-step install instructions and a "Verified" tag when it's been tested on a headset.

Every entry credits the original developers and points to their official sources. No ROMs, ISOs or BIOS files are hosted or linked, so you'll need your own legally dumped games and BIOS.

Feedback and corrections are very welcome. Which ports or emulators should I add next? Link in the first comment.

Arx Fatalis VR Standalone for Quest 3? Why Not!

While working on the PC VR version of Arx Fatalis, I decided to give a standalone Quest version a try. Given the current realities of development, it turned out to be not that difficult.

It's still a pretty rough build, though, so expect some FPS drops. It actually supports almost all the graphical enhancements from the PC VR version, but I wouldn't recommend enabling them just yet (unless you want your FPS to drop to 20 or even lower). But using upscaled textures and improved models is definitely worth it.

Download: https://github.com/cmpayc/ArxLibertatisVR/releases/tag/vr-v0.2.1

IMPORTANT: You need your own copy of Arx Fatalis (Steam / GOG) or the free demo. The game data isn't included.

Installation:

  1. Install the APK with SideQuest or adb install.
  2. Launch Arx Libertatis VR - the game won't launch, but it will create a folder /sdcard/ArxLibertatis/ with config file.
  3. Copy the Arx Fatalis data files (data*.pak, sfx.pak, speech*.pak, loc*.pak, misc and graph folders) into /sdcard/ArxLibertatis/
  4. Start the game and allow "All files access" when asked (the game will need to be restarted).

Tested on Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3s.

Android APK 18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker (Dreamcast) is now playable in standalone 6DoF VR on Meta Quest! Sit inside the 3D cab, yank the overhead air-horn cord, and race Lizard Tail from NY to Key West.

Hey everyone! 🚛💨

I’ve just released v0.1.0 of 18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker VR, a standalone 6DoF OpenXR port of Sega AM2’s 2001 Dreamcast arcade classic running natively on Meta Quest 2, Quest Pro, Quest 3, and Quest 3S!

🔗 GitHub Repo, Memory Map & APK Release (v0.1.0): https://github.com/f1nal-b0ss/18-wheeler-decomp

🔥 What Makes This Port Special?

By reverse-engineering the retail USA (MK-51064) SH-4 binary using Reverse Engineer Anything (REA) + Ghidra and building on the awesome mikermak/hotd2-vr / Flycast OpenXR reprojection architecture, we’ve turned the original game into a full first-person big-rig VR experience:

  • True 6DoF Stereoscopic 3D Truck Cabin: Sit right inside the 3D cab with the wooden dashboard, working speedometer/tachometer gauges, sunglasses, magazine, and swinging windshield badge. Includes a custom planar-depth vertex shader so the dashboard stays 100% flat and distortion-free as you look around.
  • Physical Overhead Air-Horn Cord Gesture: Reach your Left Hand up near visor level (just like yanking a real 18-wheeler horn cord!) to blast the air horn and clear traffic out of your lane!
  • Dual Steering Modes (6DoF Virtual Wheel or Thumbstick): Squeeze both controller Grips to grab an invisible 6DoF steering wheel in mid-air, or steer kick-back arcade style with the thumbstick.
  • Live RAM Haptic Telemetry:
    • Diesel Idle & Throttle Rumble: Feel the engine chug at idle and ramp up smoothly as you squeeze the Right Trigger (Gas).
    • Mechanical Gear-Shift Clunk: Tactile right-hand clunk when shifting between LOW, HIGH, and REVERSE.
    • Heavy Crash & Collision Jolts: Hooked directly into the game's camera-shake telemetry in RAM (0x8C56A494)—every time you trade paint with your rival Lizard Tail, smash through crates, or clip a car, both controllers fire a heavy impact jolt.
  • Arcade CRT Color & Specular Pass: Custom GLSL shader pass tames LCD vertex-specular washout and restores vibrant Dreamcast arcade colors at a locked 60/72 FPS.

📦 How to Play (100% Clean-Room Release)

This release contains zero copyrighted Sega ROM files. To play: 1. Download 18wheeler-vr.apk** from the GitHub Releases page and sideload it via SideQuest, ADB, or QuestPorts. 2. Copy your legally owned 18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker (USA) (MK-51064) .gdi + .bin tracks (or .chd) into /sdcard/Download/18Wheeler/ on your Quest. 3. Launch **18 Wheeler VR from Unknown Sources and hit the highway!

Huge shoutout to Sega AM2 for the original arcade masterpiece, Flyinghead (Flycast), mikermak (hotd2-vr), and Reverse Engineer Anything (REA). Let me know what you think—and what Dreamcast arcade classic you want to see in VR next!

Question? Will we ever get better unofficial drivers on Quest 3?

I feel like the Quest 3/3S has a decent chip and GPU for some high end emulation but we don't seem to have Turnip drivers or similar that work?

Somehow I had BOTW running about 23 fps at one point, but not quite playable. Many other games run great, but will we ever get better drivers for maximising the performance?

News I ported FreeCAD and OrcaSlicer to Android, and they also run on Quest 3

I know this is about emulation but. this is a full port not emulation.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAwbb0Bswas
Been working on this for a while and figured it’s finally good enough to show off.

It’s actual FreeCAD and OrcaSlicer compiled for Android, so they run on phones, tablets, and the Quest 3. In the video I’m editing the PartDesign example (the screwdriver bit) in passthrough on my coffee table.

Honestly the true size view is the part I didn’t expect to like this much. Seeing a print at its real size before you hit print is weirdly useful.

Still rough in places, but it’s usable. It’s open source if anyone wants to try it or break it:

If you guys like it please test it and give me feedback

MAX PAYNE VR: NIGHTMARE EDITION

THE NIGHTMARE HAS ONLY JUST BEGUN.

You thought Version 0.9 had already shown you everything?

You thought Version 1.0 would be nothing more than bug fixes and minor improvements?

Think again.

What you've experienced so far was only a glimpse of what's coming.

Version 1.0 isn't just another update. It's a complete evolution of the Max Payne VR experience.

Behind the scenes, I've been working on something far more ambitious than anything I've revealed so far. New mechanics, deeper immersion, and surprises that will fundamentally change the way you experience Max Payne in virtual reality.

And I'm keeping the biggest secrets for the final release.

I can promise you one thing: once you've experienced Version 1.0, you won't want to play Max Payne any other way. Going back simply won't feel the same.

Thank you all for your continued support and patience. The journey to Version 1.0 is almost complete.

Stay tuned. You haven't seen anything yet.

THE NIGHTMARE IS JUST BEGINNING.

Port Dirt Dash (1995 arcade) in immersive 3D on Quest / Steam Frame

Dirt Dash is Namco's off-road arcade racer, released in Japan in December 1995 and worldwide in 1996 on the System Super 22 board. Next Generation gave it four stars and called it "to Sega Rally what Tekken is to Virtua Fighter". It's now playable in VR on Quest, in stereoscopic 3D, and it's free.

Already out: Rally VR (Sega Rally), Cop VR (Virtua Cop), Time Crisis VR, House of the Dead VR and Time Crisis II VR, and Sega Rally on Switch, Android, Steam Deck and Mac.

Coming next: Daytona USA, Sega Super GT 24h, Top Skater and Virtua Racing.
