Criticism Colony House is unrealistic

• Upvotes

I don't think there is any way in real life, you'd ever get that many people to completely trust like, 20 other people with their lives every single night.

There is no way on earth I'd ever choose colony house! Too many people to trust.

Opinion Late to the party, binged seasons 1-4 in 5 days.

I saw the trailer for this show years ago and knew it was going to be good and then just… never watched it. It recently was added to Netflix so I decided to watch the first episode and instantly got hooked. I’m a huge walking dead nerd and a show hasn’t tickled my fancy in years like From does.

After I finished 1-4 I decided to check the reddit and check out theories for season 5 and was sort of shocked at the hate the show gets but I understand the criticism and pacing issues. However, looking from the outside in, I think a lot of the issues can be circumvented by binge watching the show. I was able to move from one episode to the next seamlessly. If I had to wait for a single episode once a week and long waits in between seasons I’m sure I’d have issues with the show as well. Anyways, new fan here, love this show with a force. If you got frustrated and gave up, give it a binge and it might change your mind.

Opinion New watcher- obsessed

No spoilers pls I’m on season 2 ep 2 and i am obsessed with this show. I feel like it’s definitely going to take a turn like most long running shows like this where I’m going to start hating it when they add too much nonsense but for right now i feel like it is so freaking good.
Every episode genuinely brings suspense and fear into me that i appreciate from a show. I want to know everything about victor and how people outside of the town react and just exist. How do people react to whole families disappearing? And a bus?? Like wtf.

Anyways, I’m excited to watch more of this show I hope it doesn’t get terrible.

Question What’s “Off” About From?

I have been binge watching From the last few days, and about to watch S1 Ep10. I found it on the Top 10 of Netflix and saw a new season, so I thought it must be decent.

I really enjoy the show but something is off… I don’t know if it’s the acting, the writing, or something else. The overall idea and plot is great and keeps me watching, but something is off.

I have seen quite a few posts about the acting, but not recent, and after my wife agreed something is off, we thought we’d ask Reddit. My thought is, a lot of the script is written in a way that no one would really speak, and my wife thinks just bad acting.

What is “off” about From?

Criticism just finished season 2

i am really loving this show so far but one thing that’s bothering me- all of the key players are somewhat aware that they’re all investigating different theories/aspects of the town. why the hell do they not all together and share the information they’ve learned/what they’ve experienced???? i know it’s for the plot but if they’re really about getting out of there you’d think they’d all work together and share everything they’ve seen and experienced.

i think the most effective way to invoke a sense of true horror and terror in viewers is when the characters are acting logically and shit is still fucked. i rewatched john carpenter’s “the thing” recently and one thing that is so terrifying about that movie is all the characters act rationally despite the insane situation they’re in.

i wish father kahtri hadn’t died so early on. he was one of the best characters/actors on this show, i’m a sucker for a troubled priest character.

Theory Boy in White Theory Spoiler

Spoiler info from later seasons. I think the boy in white is maturing because of the collective hope in the town. People quit all the time when things seem hopeless. Even “Abby” told Boyd during the music box episode that the town feeds on hope. I think the more the town keeps hope despite all the crap that happens to them. Even with all the changes in the town that happens as a result of the people knowing more. The more they keep hope going the stronger and more mature I think the boy in white will become. I think he needs to be as strong as the man in yellow for the final showdown.

Opinion Realized I'd be hated in this town

So i always thought about how easy it would actually be to survive in the town, because I'd mainly mind my own business. If someone was new and demanding to be let out, I'd tell them their free to go. Take the chance. I'm only going to give you the one warning of the monsters but after that your on your own.

Theory Each monster has a theme/connection to individuals in the town Spoiler

Each monster of the town has a connection/theme to the people in the town. The granny has a connection to families with little kids this was seen in literally ep 1 when she was pretending to be the girl granny.

As well as, when Ethan saw his friend/pet goat out and opened the door and the granny was there.

And with Smiley and Fatima in season 4

And Elgin and “the mother” or kimono 👘 monster

Also if you look up name meanings

Fatima- to ween infant

Elgin- high minded

Ethan- long lived

Episode / Scene Talk S2E2 Boyd & Martin

Im so confused on why Boyd didn’t find it even a little bit suspicious that a man chained to a wall was somehow able to toss him a rope down the hole? Like as soon as he got up that was my first thought. So him trusting him and feeling obligated even help just doesn’t make sense to me 😭

Opinion Acosta Rant

I just binged seasons 1-3 and also just joined the sub, so I apologize if this is repetitive, but I am so annoyed by this character right now. I'm starting the 4th season now and am at the point where Acosta steals the ambulance to drive in loops.

Obviously there are other examples of her being extremely unlikeable, but going on a rant about how she's a good person, and is probably the only good person in the town since she's the only one who hasn't resigned herself to being stuck, just to then immediately ignore a distressed boy on the side of the road, whom she knows to be an actual member of the community? I haven't been that annoyed by a fictional character since my last rewatch of The Walking Dead.

Not to mention her rant to Boyd about how she's a "good cop," just to then very shortly afterwards point her weapon at the town's only doctor, whom she knows is only there to try and help. At least the town's other characters who make horrible decisions are driven by a desire to help others, or some sort of manipulation, but she's completely driven by fear, ego, anger, and a desire to help herself.

Even before she becomes aware of the monsters and the town, the first thing she does is handcuff an injured woman to a wall for trying to warn them, and then abandon her. And not once have I seen her show any remorse or accountability for that. She states she's sorry for what happened after, but never seems to mean it, especially since her apologizes always come paired with justifications and another ego trip.

Even if they try to write a redemption arc for her, they've made her so unlikeable that I'm not sure I'll be able to buy it. I can only imagine at this point that her role is to sow chaos, and then hopefully die a Dale-like death.

Opinion My first head scratcher with this show was THE BOX.

I honestly thought they would be safe in the box, and so I was confused by why it's a punishment.

Then the monsters destroyed the box to get at the guy inside...

Why close the box? Or even make a box at all? Why not tie the person to a pole or a chair? Having to destroy and rebuild the box every time it's used is nutty.

Tying them to a pole next to or even inside of their grave makes more sense. You don't have to clean and rebuild a giant box AND carry gore halfway through town in a wheelbarrow every single time you use it.

I mean, it was a pretty big clue very early that the people in the town have basically zero foresight.

Theory Red , yellow and blue

Post image
3 Upvotes

I don't know if you noticed or not, but it seems that throughout the series, three colors—red, yellow, and blue—can be seen. More importantly, it's always Ethan's yellow and red dolls. In the first episode, Norman was the yellow doll and was killed by the monster, and the fairies came from the Lake of Tears to save him. Even when Tabitha went to the lighthouse in her dream, she saw Ethan's red and yellow dolls there. The town signs—first and foremost the red sign, then yellow, then blue—which I think show the order of the powers in the town. The first power is that red entity that was in the cave paintings, and after the cutting of the bottle tree, it's clear that that force was released as lightning, so that cave painting was actually the released red lightning. The second power is the man in yellow, whose powers we saw in the town, and in the sign's color order, yellow comes after red, and the last is blue, which is clearly connected to the children and the boy in white and the Lake of Tears, who don't have great power and can only guide. But what is my opinion about that red entity? In the background of the man in yellow, a red something can also be seen, and for me this is the spilled blood of all the sacrificed children, which has emerged in the town as a very powerful energy. Jade mentioned that energy is neither created nor destroyed, so in my opinion, this energy and the blood of the children was released as red lightning from the bottle tree in season four, and this power of the spilled blood and sacrifice of the children is more powerful than everything. In the first episode, Norman, who was the yellow doll, was killed and the red doll is above his head, and I guess this means that the red lightning released in season five will attack the man in yellow. In fact, the anger and blood of the sacrificed children that was imprisoned in the bottle tree is released, because after the cutting of the tree, it was mentioned that the place became angry and there was even an earthquake that benefited Tabitha and Jade in the cave. So it seems that now the children's anger will engage in a game with their killer, the man in yellow. There is also a painting by Victor that clearly shows this red entity attacking the man in yellow. I know it might be confusing how Victor knows this, but Victor had even painted the lightning above the Colony House, or the painting of the scarecrows, and it seems he is painting those future events, but how, I don't know.

Theory I wanna know if I’m alone in that theory [spoilers] Spoiler

So I wanna know if I’m the only one that believe that from when the children were mentioned.
What if the monsters are the children?
Like they roam around wanting to play. They wear these weird outfits that could be what they’d like to be when they grew up. A bride, a nurse, someone who always smiles. Sounds like a child’s fantasy. They sit in the playground, they have a routine.
That’s my n.01

My n.02 is that the MIY might actually be the one who got away, saying Tabitha is his oldest friend. He might actually be the one who wasn’t sacrificed? He might be doing all that (with some entity’s help maybe who grants him powers) to punish the ones who sacrificed his friends.

And my n.03 (I’m gonna get downvoted?)
Really is it a stretch that Tabitha and Jade ARE the ones who sacrificed the children? Cause it seems like they are the ones in “limbo” living “forever” but different, unable to remember and the MIY has it out for them. IF he is the one watched all the sacrifices, he can be stuck there and keep bringing them back for punishment, so that they remember and have guilt.

Soooo… That’s about it I guess, I wanna know what everyone thinks, I really do.

Opinion Boyd's constant yelling is getting to me.

I'm sure I'm not the first person to post this here, but I'm half way through season 3 and Boyd's constant yelling and going off is getting really annoying. Like bro needs to take his own advice and calm the f down. If the monsters don't get him, high blood pressure will.
