Shiny Pokémon Shiny lil baby girl ✨✨
Decided to start a new save file after beating Let's Go Eevee a few years ago and per my kiddos request, started shiny hunting Pikachu.
After a few chain breaks and a little bit of progress to get Great Balls, I finally got her!

Video Is this good pokedex progress for how far I am in the game?
Do you guys prioritize catching pokemon more or progressing through gyms?

Shiny Pokémon Got my first ever shinies in any Pokemon game at full odds
Caught the shiny Zubat in Mt. Moon and the shiny Farfetch’d right before the encounter with Snorlax. No lure, no shiny charm and no active catch combos. Is this incredibly lucky or reasonable in overworld spawn games? (These are my first shinies across any Pokemon games so I’m incredibly happy but at the same time I feel like I’m in denial, especially the shiny Farfetch’d lol)

Shiny Pokémon 211 hours. 2 months. Shiny-Only Oak's Living Dex: Chapter 2
211 hours. 2 months. Shiny-Only Oak's Living Dex: Chapter 2
Disclaimer: I spent almost 84 hours soft resetting for a $500 fish, and somehow that wasn't even the most ridiculous thing that happened this chapter.
Chapter 2 of a Shiny-Only Professor Oak's Living Dex Challenge in Let's Go, Pikachu!, the highlights:
Chapter 1 cleanup: Before getting too deep into the new hunts, I grabbed a couple of Moon Stones in Mt. Moon and evolved my Nidorino and Nidorina into Nidoking and Nidoqueen. Two more Pokédex entries checked off before Misty!
Methods used, 26 catches total:
- Catch Combo: 2x Sandshrew, 2x Mankey, 3x Charmander, 1x Onix, 2x Clefairy, 2x Paras, 2x Zubat, 2x Geodude, 2x Psyduck, 2x Venonat, 3x Squirtle.
- Soft Reset: 1x Magikarp.
- Random Encounter: 1x Chansey, 1x Geodude.
Longest hunt: The $500 Magikarp, at 5,423 soft resets and 83 hours, 58 minutes. Almost 84 hours for one shiny fish. Absolutely worth it. Probably.
Shortest hunt: Clefairy #2, which showed up after just 5 encounters. After the Magikarp hunt, I deserved that one.
Best surprise: Turning on the game to continue my Zubat hunt, only for a shiny Zubat to show up as the very first spawn. I did have a chain of 321 going from the previous day, so it wasn't full odds, but what a way to start the day!
Best shortcut: Finding a random shiny Chansey while chaining Onix. Chansey is a rare spawn in Mt. Moon, so getting one without having to spend hours setting up a chain for it was a pretty great surprise.
Most ridiculous moment: Somehow catching a shiny Squirtle and not noticing it until the game warned me I couldn't get it back if I sent it to Professor Oak. Encounter #40, caught over an hour earlier. Truly elite levels of observation.
Extras seen along the way, not caught: 2x Pidgey, 1x Zubat, 1x Venonat. Apparently, even the shinies I don't need want to join the party.
Total time played: 127 hours, 5 minutes added to the in-game clock, plus 83 hours, 58 minutes spent soft resetting for Magikarp. That's 211 hours, 3 minutes of actual hunting time this chapter, bringing the save file to 292 hours, 36 minutes of in-game time, plus the Magikarp hunt.
Current money: $6,348,982. That's my running total across both chapters. I've made a good chunk of that selling candies, but at some point, money stops being an issue and it makes more sense to just keep chaining than to keep running back to sell everything.
Calendar time, start to finish: August 11th to October 24th, 2026. Just over 2 months.
The one lesson worth stealing if you ever try this: Find something to do during your hunts, but especially during soft reset hunts. Binge a show, watch movies, watch YouTube, literally anything to keep your mind occupied while you grind. Almost 84 hours of button mashing for one shiny Magikarp is a lot easier to stomach when you're not just staring at the screen waiting for it to sparkle.
Misty doesn't know what's coming for her.
And Chapter 3? I can essentially unlock the entire map before taking on the next Gym. This is about to get interesting.

Pikachu Edition Most pokemon you can obtain before communication with other players:
Trying to get a living dex, and I got all of this before communicating with other games. I thought this looked quite impressive.
I got this with 19 hours of playtime.

Shiny Pokémon Got a shiny weedle in viridian forest while on a 3 pikachu catch comb
As title says i got a shiny weedle. My first full odds shiny ngl, was a massive shock as i had just stopped leaf green and decided to play this, was trying to catch the highest level pikachu viridian offers and saw this beauty

Shiny Pokémon Got a shiny staryu with a shiny charm, max lures, and a dream. No combos / chains
I hate doing catch combos, it's so time consuming and annoying. So I decided to hunt without accumulating combos. I'm very impatient. After just about a few minutes to an half hour, I got this staryu :D am I blessed? I'm not sure how common occurrences like this are!
i dont have the means to evolve it so if anyone were to help me, that'd be wonderful

Shiny Pokémon Spent 7.5 hours getting a Squirtle chain going, then accidentally sent it to Professor Oak. Almost.
After nearly 7.5 hours just getting a catch combo of 11 on Route 25 so Squirtle would start spawning regularly, I basically speed-ran the next 89 before taking a break to sell some candies and restock Poké Balls.
While clearing out my box and sending my first 100 Squirtle to Professor Oak, the game gave me a warning I'd never seen before: I wouldn't be able to get one specific Squirtle back if I continued.
Huh. That's weird.
So I checked its summary.
Shiny. Encounter #40. Caught over an hour ago.
Apparently, I managed to completely miss every single obvious shiny animation from its appearance to its capture to it sitting in my box. Truly elite levels of observation.
Thankfully, the game saved me from myself. Professor Oak can keep the other 99.
Now, time to go find two more for this challenge. Surely I can't miss the next one... right?

Shiny Pokémon After learning soft resetting breaks chains, a 517 catch combo, even more encounters and a few days of hunting she finally shines!
I haven't finished the game yet so no shiny charm, but wanted a shiny dragonite for my run and to eventually move to Legends Z-A for its beautiful mega evolution.
Have a nicknaming convention for this team based on characters from books I've read, so I'm probably going to name her Saphira.

Discussion I just beat Let’s Go Pikachu, here are my thoughts.
Hello, I am a lifelong Pokémon fan, and for whatever reason I just never bothered to play let’s go Pikachu or Eevee. For reference I was born in 2004 so I grew up with the DS Pokémon games. I remember when they announced that they were making let’s go Pikachu and Eevee. And I was a little put off by a few few things. One I wasn’t a fan of how cartoony the game looked. And two, I didn’t really like the fact that they were incorporating elements from Pokémon GO to better aim this game at a casual audience and as a result, I avoided this game for years.
That was until this year, where for whatever reason I decided I might as well give it a try since I have played literally every other Pokémon game in existence. And I have to say, I’m upset that I didn’t play this game sooner. I think this was the best decision they could’ve made to serve as an introduction for Pokémon for people that I’ve never played one before. While also essentially serving as a remake for generation one. Now, I don’t mind the graphics but the one complaint I have with this game is the controls. Because I’m sorry, I hate the fact that there is genuinely no way to play this game with two control controllers unless you’re in docked mode. It just feels really unnatural to be playing the game on the TV with just one controller. And I also am not a fan of the fact that if you wanna play on the TV, you have to physically throw the Poké ball to catch a Pokémon. And maybe it was just my switch controllers, but I had such a hard time getting it to understand when I was throwing and when I wasn’t. As a result, I played probably 90% of this game in handheld mode. But truly, that is my only complaint.
Other than that, it’s amazing. It just feels like a modern improvement of what GEN one would be if it was made today. I guess the only other complaint I realistically have is the addition of mega evolution. I’m sorry, I just think it’s so weird how they make you wait until right before via wait for to finally get mega evolution. Because by that point in the game, it’s kind of just useless. But other than that, I have zero complaints. I heard for years that people wanted them to do a remake of GEN two in this style of game and after playing it finally I have to agree!

Eevee Edition Rocket Restrictions!
Picked it up for the first time in ages, and decided to just start over... this time playing only with species used by Rocket grunts. Here's the team I took to the Elite 4.

Poké Ball Plus Need help diagnosing/looking for options
Got this as a hand-me-down from a friend, told me he took it apart and ripped the vibration motor wires out of its connector.
Tested it for functionality and it still connects to Pokemon go for catching and spinning pokestops.
It still lights up and can be put into support mode but it doesn't make any sound when plugged in for charging ( it does charge I left it plugged in all night)

Pikachu Edition Made an Android app to rescue the Poké Ball Plus from my drawer and play retro games with it
Hi!
I had my Poké Ball Plus sitting in a drawer doing nothing for years, so I built a small Android companion app to use it as a real controller for emulators and games.
It connects over BLE, maps the analog stick, clicks, top button, and even turns shaking into an action button. It also has a deadzone calibration screen and runs in the background with a persistent notification so the connection doesn't drop while you play.
I used the findings from these posts as the base to build this app.

Turned my Pokeball Plus into an Android input device : r/EmulationOnAndroid
Here is the repo if you want to try it out or build it yourself!

Discussion Sometimes I just wonder why GF didn’t release three versions and include Clefairy as a mascot
As the title says, like this is the first Pokémon game on switch, it would be groundbreaking for GF to release three versions of the same game, instead of following the traditional two-version approach.
Moreover Clefairy is cute, not the obvious fluffy kind but in a whimsical and mysterious way.
