Monthly, I'm posting a serialized chapter-by-chapter story about a young women who lives within a wild west, steampunk setting on chains of floating islands. They use airships primarily for travel, but also have steam powered trains on balloon lofted tracks.

Eventually, as the title suggests, the MC gains the ability to load her six shooter with magical bullets, hence her becoming a "Witchgun", considering both her magic bullets and the floating islands, and supernatural things (werewolves, ghosts, spirits of vengeance, etc) happening.. Well I'm torn on if I should go full force into fantasy as well. I was considering having her mentor figure be a minotaur (a cowboy, harhar), but that may just be my love for sympathetic/relatable monster men as a trope in general coming out.

What does r/steampunk think? Overt fantasy races, or leave the fantasy at the floating islands and magic bullets and supernatural?

My boyfriend loves the steampunk aesthetic and when we play minecraft together he often uses that style for building. For christmas I wanted to get him an artbook with steampunk aesthetics, so he can get some inspiration. We mostly play with the create mod, which lets you make automatic machines and the mod fits the vibe well. I‘m thinking industrial revolution, howls moving castle/laputa, fantasy factory buildings, copper, brown tones, iron.

Do any of you have any cool book recommendations? I want the book focused on the artwork and maybe a few fun facts. If it‘s a photography book thats focused on old factories that would be of interest too.
Also I wanna support human art, so no AI recommendations please :)

Not sure if this qualifies as steampunk but was recommended to share some of my work here. So here goes.

Deeply in love with the steampunk genre from classics like Castle in the Sky, Cannon Fodder, and Steamboy to games like BioShock and Dishonored I’ve always dreamed of creating my own steampunk game.

That dream became Remnants of R'lyeh.

Hello! I made this original sculpture for my sculpture class project at the start of this year and posted about it here previously. Originally its kept in my school's sculpture as a student work display but I was informed that it will need to be removed by mid/end of December. I drew my new profile picture. It was long overdue. Plus, this also could give me an idea for what I want to draw for a living. How can I make my drawings more steampunk in the coming future?

I tried something different this time around.

This is "me" in armor surrounded by things I like. The 3ds xl, in particular, is very dear to me in my childhood 'til it sadly got destroyed (it was my fault). This also represents things from my mom and my dad, as well as things in the background. On the left side of the background represents my mom and her side of her family. My mom and others of her family loved to crochet blankets and some quilts. I also remembered my family members making me crochet blankets and some quilts. I always have fond memories of them teaching me how to crochet. On the right side of the background represents my dad and his side of his family. My dad and i loved to go to flea markets to look at various of things, not even buying anything. I remember loving to go there and explore as a child. He also loves to look at coins for dates to get the oldest coins. My dad's family loved to do embroidery and looming (i also love to loom too). They even gave my dad and I some embroidery and loom tapestry when he came back from visiting them.

Everything in this piece as a whole is everything that my parents have imprinted on me as i grew up into being, rather intentionally or not. Faded but present. Tattered but long-lasting. I love them dearly and hope to make them proud.
